Weird shaped fish

Saturday morning I had a good trip with my grown son. We caught several good bass, drum, catfish and one 21 in walleye near the dam.

Some of the smaller bass we caught were the crooked or hunched backed bass.

In the 20+ years I have fished area lakes, I have caught more crooked or hunched back bass and walleyes  in Stockton than any other area lake. Is that just my luck or has anyone else noticed this?

I have heard that a virus or a genetic disorder is the cause. May be something else. I do know that on fish that I have kept like those that the flesh was thicker and more fibrous in that area. I would cut that part out and then just stopped keeping them all together. Maybe that perpetuated the problem.

We've caught several walleye at stockton with that humpback shape, a few would have been keepers if you could have straightened them out. never kept one to eat so don't know if they are worth eating or not.
