Best months for big stripers on Beaver Lake

Recommended Posts

Just settled into Bella Vista after our move from Oregon, will be fishing out of Starky Marina on the northern end of Beaver Lake starting next week.  I have fished Norfork Lake up in Mountain Home several times in the past and I believe that April and October seem to be the best months for the 30Lb. plus fish on the lake.  I'm wondering if that is the same down here on Beaver, and how about Walleyes, can't wait to bring home some of those tasty delights.

You might want to edit the title.  Unless of course that's actually what you're seeking:D

Since small, medium, & large strippers stripers travel and feed together, catching the big ones exclusively is more a matter of method than month. That said, when the surface temps cool to ~52 degrees, they're very active and will feed shallow until it cools to ~48. Some years that's late October, some it's early December. Invert those numbers for spring and you'll be in the ballpark.

Just other day I was thinking we hadn’t had a striper typo in a while 😄

BTW, I had to correct spelling twice for that right there. First was stumper and then came stripper.

I'm a fair weather striper fisherman, I like May and November mainly because I like to go out and look for them on top.  I am not looking for monsters, I'm not geared up to deal with them, perfectly happy to get fish in the 6 - 15 lb range on my bass tackle.

My neighbor caught a 35 lber a couple of years ago around that May timeframe - out chasing blowups but I believe that he caught it on a Storm swimbait.
