Recommended Posts

I just got a notification that MLF bought FLW. Merging the tournaments, series and scoring.

Poor FLW guys went from PRO to Triple A overnight.    It says they are making them 6 day events,  Keep fish in the livewell the first couple days, then switch to catch and release with a official in the boat the last few days.

I bet with MLF now owning it you will see all of the big dogs in these

This is just business and proof that the only thing that stays the same is everything changes.  MLF knew it needed "minor leagues"  to grow its brand and give accountability to the anglers on their highest circuit.   There are anglers in the current FLW who can and will compete in MLF in the future.   MLF respects FLW and that is why they made the move.

MLF has made a big impact and is growing the sport. I have friend at work who trout fishes once a year. He asked me to take him bass fishing because he has been watching MLF and it looked fun.  I took him once and he wants a boat.

I know some purist say it is a dink fest.  I like 5 fish limits too, but I think the format is just different and has it's own challenges and huge entertainment advantages to those not truly into tourney fishing.  If it is easy, go catch a 100 lbs on a day on Table Rock in May next year..it ain't easy.

The number of people bass fishing is skyrocketing.  I hate all the fishing pressure on our local ponds too.  But if I look at in an unselfish way, the more people that do it , the more they will stand up for and protect our right to fish and the waters we do it on.  It also puts money in people who sell gas, hotels, boats, fishing tackle, etc.  So much of that is based right here in the Ozarks, that I think that is a great thing.

Change is tough and you have to adjust to it or get left behind.....

Im tired of the whole "growing the sport".  The lakes are busy enough as it is.

I'm blown away by the number of guys that wouldn't fish at all if it weren't for tournaments.

Their "love of the sport" truly has nothing to do with fish, it's the LED numbers on those scales that fill their dreams.   Kinda sad....to me.  I can't relate to them, and as I get older I am finding it harder to respect them.  This is what y'all are bringing to the table with all of these high school & college fishing "teams".

I still dont understand why 6 days of fishing?  With all the tournaments that already take place, there are going to be a lot of lure shy or dead fish.  Why not keep it just a few days, but suprise the mlf anglers.  Make one tournament biggest 5 and the next most 1bers....dont tell the guys till the day of the tournament.  I think mlf would be more interesting that way.

For the weekend anglers this is good, but if I'm watching professional anglers fish I want to see what biggins a lake has to offer.

It doesn't take "professional anglers" to showcase that.   The BBB is an all amateur event that always has more big bass brought to the scales than any of the professional circuits do.

I "hobknob" with professional anglers all the time, and I promise you that they have more crap days than killer ones by a large margin!
