People always say that, but I've never had it happen for me.  Main lake points IMO are the worst place to try and pattern fish.  Wind can shut you down, boat traffic can shut you down, I just don't see the attraction.   I obviously need a lesson...more patience, and a much bigger boat.

I fish main lake points quite a bit. I would say that while I do catch fish on some main lake points with regularity, I don’t think they are significantly better than a lot of other areas I fish. I find that I actually catch more fish with better consistency in the backs. It doesn’t stop me from trying though. I fish points a lot.

All you need to do is use logic in this one. The fish are using the points as a current break during all the generation.

Yeah I've heard all that "logic".

My logic states that you'll catch just as many going along the bank (practically any bank) as you will sitting on some lame posterior mainlake point.

Yea well apparently you missed out on several things that happened this year, as in “Best big fish bite we ever had” “Never seen it this good “ during the last few major generations this year 😊

It was good all over, it didn't just happen on mainlake points.  😊

I never seemed to be able to capitalize on a “big fish bite” this year. I had a few decent fish and lost a few really good ones, but didn’t really get into to many really big ones. My biggest fish this year came about a mile away from any water deeper than about 6 feet deep.

As far as structure goes I find that flats along a shoreline are way more dependable than mainlake or secondary points.

Give me something like this...Screenshot_20191216-210203.png

Or this...Screenshot_20191216-210341.png

and you can have ALL of THESE....Screenshot_20191216-210811.png

Well, I’ll take the main lake points adjoining deep water with a flat and you can have every back end on the lake.  There are not a large number with the right ingredients but they are money, especially in current.

i'll tell you this about main lake points last year, my good buddy who has been fishing there his whole life of 60+ years kept texting me pics last spring of 5lb plus fish saying "man are you getting in on this main lake bite" He said in all his years he had never seen the bite so good for big bass. Based on his pcs i have no doubt it was happening.

His place is in Racoon Holler and he would go from there straight to hopping around main lake points and hammer them time after time.
