I missed where he claimed USMC veteran status.  Just saw where he said he got a GED and did some engineering with the Marines as an equipment operator.

I was an equipment operator at Fort Sill, OK.  Never went through basic training though. Installed underground cable to the base and have PTSD from all the GD Scorpions and giant spiders we unearthed.  It's ok though, nobody has to salute me.   😎  Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to dig a trench in DRY SAND?  The guys training there at the time sure looked alot cleaner and less sunburnt than we did.

I never rode with the Hells Angels either, but I did party at Sonny Barker's place  when they returned from the Alaskan pipeline gig.  That's "Barker" not Barger.... bit of a difference there, but still. 😅

He is an old fart, (if real) confused, and not a good communicator....He claimed it. But heck, his wife has his balls in a vice, and he cant even get a boat. Not worth any more time.

Art History got me thru one of my required arts classes.  Kinda interesting.  My time required 4 PE credits.  Aced archery, took Fencing and loved it.  Judo was fun.  Took a latin course to get some background on the naming systems of the species, dropped it second day, could not stand the flaming teacher on that one.

Teachers can make or break a course.  Good ones that can communicate and have a passion for what they are doing can make a course interesting and fun.

I went to boot in San Diego in 1970 and I don't remember much at all about it, except the airport just across the estuary taking people away from there and us washing clothes on the tarmac then tying them to the clothesline. I did four years active in the USN was PO2 for about half of that and didn't even know I had a MOS, so I couldn't give that to you, along with all the other carp I forgot about 1970 I don't even recall my service number and I haven't seen my DD214 in maybe 20 years. Was E6/PO1 in the reserves and still didn't know i had a MOS. 1970 was a long dang time ago and not everyone lives in their childhood forever.

Back to the subject of the thread.  Can someone please explain the reluctance to wear masks?  Protective of yourself and others.  How did the mask become the political symbol it appears to be, at least in some circles.  It's not a sign of weakness, oppression or fear.  Why won't the state and federal leaders model a behavior that is protective of the public health?  I honestly do not get it.

Masks to protect yourself are reserved to hospital and rescue type people, aren't they?  A bandana type mask doesn't give you any self protection  it only keeps you from spitting  on others. But I think the real reason is because the guberment told everybody not wear masks for weeks on end before changing that to "it is Ok to wear masks".

If I can't get a mask that will protect me, and I'm not sick,  what would make me want to wear a bandana to make strangers feel more secure?

Back in the late 80s I Knew several guys from Camp Lejuene. Mostly helicopter guys.

back in the '70s I knew Marines that weren't real proud of or happy with the Corp, kids today never get drafted into service but we did. Most every boy in my HS class served in one branch or the other. And we got spit on in airports by the same class of civilians that nowadays go around singing "thank you for your service"; if anyone wants to thank a veteran they should volunteer a hitch, and vote for politicians that aren't out to destroy the Constitution.
