Black Bear???

Recommended Posts

Well, the pictures on KY3 a few days ago (from Nixa) didn't look like any Lab I've ever been around...

I heard they are very partial to hunting for food in tail waters at night.... Doesn't a bear slapping at a fish sound a lot like a beaver slapping with his tail? Doesn't a bear hungry for night fishermen sound a lot like a squawking heron? Aren't they partial to fish that are on a hook being dragged upstream? I also heard they are attracted to small lights like the ones you wear around your head or on your cap. Then there's that thing about them mistaking the smell of wet breathable waders for the smell of fresh salmon...

Not to scare anyone or anything....

There was quite a bit of footage of a bear in Nixa a couple summers ago I think. It fell asleep in someone's barn one afternoon. I haven't seen the recent footage, but I get it's the same one. Just think, Phil went all the way to Alaska to catch rainbow trout and see bears and we had them both here after all!

Its possible...a park ranger friend says they have several sightings a year in the ONSR they have been spotted near St. Louis before, last one I heard of was a bit south of Fredericktown..FWIW, most of the bears that wander through Missouri are young male bears from Arkansas. Looking for love in vain I guess.
