We played in the rain today...water temp was only 59

rained til 4...then sun came out and blew 20 mph out of the south

fishing was tough...I like the lake...and have caught a lot of fish over there but today wasn’t the best...just seems like too much weeds to me

anybody else fishing se Kansas?

A buddy was there Thursday, caught 2 limits of over 18's and a bunch of other fish. I was further north catching crappie and smallmouth.

I hate that lake. No problem catching fish, but it's always so busy and I always encounter some of the the rudest fishermen I run into anywhere when I'm on that lake. Not to mention the awesome roads getting into it. Doesn't matter how slow you drive when a local flies by you 55mph throwing dust and gravel everywhere.

Nice fish...

i hear ya on the lake...usually good fishing but I don’t know how to fish the weeds....and there just seems to be more and more of them.  We usually pitch jigs into the tree tops along the creek channels and fence rows

The crowd wasn’t a problem For is....it was just us and one other boat.  It rained about 2 inches that day...those little creeks running into it were rolling chocolate milk....and I guess dropped the water temp.  Was just a bad day....we always put in at the back ramp

I thought they said 10 years ago they were going to pave the roads...still haven’t.  It’s one of my sons favorite lakes because we caught a bunch of fish over there when he was little.

we didn’t go at all last year....I remembered why...when I got home and saw the boat.  if I have my way...i won’t go back.

Where’d you go?  I’d say you Were quite a bit north to get into smallmouth like that?  There aren’t big smallmouth in southeast Kansas.

About the furthest we stray into Kansas is big hill...I used to fish Pleasanton and lacygne when I was a kid....but that’s been 40 years ago

When I was working. Part of my territory ran through a lot of those strip pits in southeast Kansas. I can remember many years ago we had a crew working on the KCS and BNSF crossing at Arcadia. One of them had his kids snoopy pole or something similar with him and a couple of crappie jigs. He end bring in a four or five pound large mouth while he was eating lunch. Anyone hear of a commercial pitt named Sportsman Paradise? My tracks ran right along it.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???B)

I've fished Sportsman's Paradise a couple times. It has some monsters in it but they get fished for a lot and act accordingly.

Yea I never checked it out. To busy working all the time. Wah!!! But I heard it was pretty pricey. But there is a lot of big fish pitts in that area.
