If I am correct, dont most paddlefish guys catch them buy dragging and snagging? I may be wrong. But if that is the case then Taneycomo would not be such a dream spot of them guys.

Haha. From my exprience, the bottom of Lower Taneycomo is comprised of acres and acres of stick and log debris. May lose alot of tackle. Haha

Yea, better scratch the paddlefish then. I like snagging near brush, but too much is never a good thing, for snagging that is.

Maybe they should just throw some gator gar in there....*laughs*. Ok not really, but how would you like to look down and a see an 8 foot long gar swimming by....I think I would be on my way to the dock to change my drawers.

If you like Gar, just float the James River in early May. Thousands of them running up stream. I stood in about 2 foot of water just below crane creek and watch a school of gar swim right past me. Boths sides of me. Even brushing against my legs. Hundreds of them. Was kind of cool.

I snag alot during that time frame, but have never seen a big school of gar like that. My buddy and his dad did a few years back. They tried to snag some, but wouldn't you know it they ended up yanking out a few 60 pound paddlefish instead.

Funny how things work sometimes.

The giant squid seems like a good idea......and I live in St. Louis.

But, really, as humans we never seem to learn from our past mistakes. THE NUMBER ONE RULE: If it ain't broke, don't F*** with it. Whenever someone screws with the makeup of a stream they almost always screw it up. Taney is too fine of a fishery to risk damage.

Just look at all the problems the illegal introduction of lake trout is causing in Yellowstone. Not only is it threatening a great fishery but it is a very expensive distraction for the wildlife management personnel. The introduction of lake trout may cause irreparable damage to the native fish population. They seem to have the word 'lynch' on their lips when they talk about "if we ever catch the SOB that did this."

I hope this is a lesson well learned and that no one decides to take it upon themselves to introduce alien fish to these fine waters, even in a small way. I know that the readers of this fine forum are above this but, all to often I have seen bait fisherman through their unused bait into the water thinking that they were just helping by feeding the fish, not realizing how much harm they might actually be doing.

I didn't know that Phil. Did MDC stock them or did they get tossed in by somebody who didn't want to mess with them one day?
