  1. For sale: Wilderness System Ride 115 with paddle included. Purchased last year brand new and still in excellent condition. Both my fishing buddies purchased a Ranger and Nitro bass boat this spring so the kayak hasn't went to use this year. Located in Park Hills, Missouri (~60 miles south of St. Louis) Asking $775. You can Call/txt me at 573-366-4498 for additional questions/pictures or message/post in this thread. Thanks for looking.
  2. Hopefully you have better luck with this one WakenLake. Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I have 2 casting and 1 spinning Vendetta rod, 1 spinning veritas rod, 4 Abu Garcia baitcaster and 2 spinning reels. I haven't had a single problem with any of their products so I'm glad to see you give them another chance.
  3. I know you are looking for a 7'+ rod but I second the Vendetta 6'9" rod on sale at Wal-Mart depending on what you wish to use the rod for of course. I have a 7'0 M Veritas spinning rod and it is a stout rod. I really like it for 5 inch senkos, but I favor it more for lakes where I target bigger fish. The 6'9 ML vendetta has been amazing for river/creek fishing. This rod is made for river smallies! I've been throwing 4 inch senkos or light t-rigs (1/8oz weight + 2/0 or 3/0 EWG hook) With a good reel this thing casts a mile and has enough backbone to work a fish from cover but also give you a rush working in a smallie through current. If this is what you are looking for, you CANNOT beat the price of this rod at Wal-Mart. I have mine paired with a Abu Garcia Orra S spinning reel (matches the vendetta rod), and even though it doesn't help me catch more fish, this combo is sharp looking. Good luck in whatever rod you choose.
  4. I carry two in my Ride 115. 1 7'0M Vendetta casting rod for Spinnerbaits/buzzbaits/jigs (heavy lures) and 6'9ML vendetta spinning rod. 95% of the time I use the spinning rod to throw small plastics with a 1/8 bullet weight.
  5. I picked up a Wilderness System Ride 115 about a month ago and have taken it out a few times now on Big River. I love this thing. I have stood up once or twice in it but I'll feel more comfortable once the water temps are higher to do it consistently in case I do take a fall. The seat is extremely comfortable, and I have more than enough storage for my needs. It is similar to the Coosa in terms of size. The Coosa does have the really cool hi/lo seat but the Ride 115 is a bit cheaper. My vote would be Ride 115 or the Coosa and you'll never look back.
  6. I certainly do my fair share of shopping at Bass Pro/Cabelas etc. but I also like to give my business to the small tackle companies when they provide a quality product that I normally would purchase from the big stores. I purchase all my jigs from Siebert Outdoors. He is a Missouri guy from Festus that hand ties all his jigs. These are great jigs! As far as hand poured plastics go, I am a huge fan of Alluring Baits. His senko knock-off is one of the best I have used and at a good price among many other great plastics he offers. He pours them from his home in Texas. Do you guys have any small time tackle manufacturers you like to buy from?
  7. Thank you for the feedback Troutdoorsman. I think I know the area you are talking about I will be sure to slow down and fish a jig next time. I love the float between Mounds and Leadwood, or sometimes we take out at Terre Du Lac. We normally float it about 10x a summer. Always catch large numbers of fish with an occasional quality one. I live in Park Hills and it's less than 5 minute drive to Leadwood Access from the house. Love having Big River in my back yard.
  8. I picked up a Wilderness System Ride 115 a few weeks ago and finally got to test it out this week at Leadwood Access. I put in and went upstream on 4/5 and again 4/9. Largemouth were shallow in slack water close to cover often schooled up. All were caught on 5 inch green pumpkin Senkos. I could not get a bite on a spinnerbait or fluke. Cannot find the smallmouth yet. Anyone else hitting up Big River and having some success?
  9. Hey all. Thought I would introduce myself, I've been lurking and reading for awhile now. I'm from Park Hills and call Big River my home water. I also hit Bismarck Lake a lot also. I have a Jon boat and will be purchasing a kayak within a week or two. Looking forward to talking/reading about fishing and meeting some fellow enthusiasts.
