Anybody catching any crappie down at Truman? I got a place over at Pomme and thought i might come down this week and head over to Truman and try for some crappie. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Hello all. My cousin and I are planning on fishing Truman in about a week. Get there Thursday, put out a trotline (first time for me) and then fish for whatever will bite. We'll come back and do it again on Friday.

This will be the first trip in Pappaw's old boat to any lakes bigger than a pond (pics available in intro thread). We are thinking of using Taley Bend to put in and looking for a spot to anchor and tie up for the line. Any advice or hints on how not to look too stupid would be appreciated.

Why is it I cannot find the current water information for Truman Lake? I must be looking in the wrong place or something.

Been fishing Truman the last few weekends. It's honestly been pretty brutal with the wind. We have been catching them, though. The cold fronts have them moving constantly it seems. Most of the keeper fish are in the mouths of creeks in 15-20 FOW, about 10 ft down. As soon as you get into the creek arms, it is dink city. Color doesn't seem to matter much, but monkey milk, orange/chartreuse, and bone have been good. We have been using 1/4-oz and 3/16-oz jig heads to get down quickly with the wind. Some fish crush the jig if you get it anywhere near them, others you have to knock them on the head and slowly pull it away. Hopefully we get some rain and warmer weather to move the keepers back up into the creeks. Water temp was 54 yesterday, with shallower areas showing 57.

Got this one yesterday--biggest crappie ever landed at 15-inches and 2.2-lbs. Let her go so she could spawn. That was fun!

	Hey All,

I was talking to one of my friends who I often accompany to Truman in the summer. One idea we had for the summer was to take a kayak from an access point and paddle out to an island, probably KK island, maybe the larger one near Fairfield, and spend a night there camping, fishing and letting our inner child out in the vein of exploration. My question is if this is even legal, or if anybody has done it before... I know it's Corps Land, but I don't know all the regulations on stuff like that. Sounds like a blast to me...

	Thanks

Camped at Truman State Park. Got there Wednesday just before the floods. Caught crappie from the bank. Most were shorts 8-9 inches but did get a few keepers. Caught my first ever hybrid striped bass. Ended up catching 5 hybrids including a 5 lb and 6 lb. Family had a great time despite the rain.

Never fished Truman. Have a buddy I haven't seen in 10 years who set up a trip for us, so very excited. He said we are gonna try for a little of everything.

Rather than the shotgun approach, I like to be overly prepared for what's "in season". I know whites and crappie have been doin there thing in TR and Stockton, but is there anything else I should look into more? Maybe the hybrids or even paddlefish (NEVER paddlefished before)

With the beautiful weather I figured I'd give it a go and see if anything was biting, especially the crappie. I put in at Long Shoals and headed up the Grand. After I went under the Long Shoals bridge I veered off to the left and went back into one of the bigger creek arms. The water temps were 58 to 60 every where I went so I figured the crappie wouldn't be on the bank. I started out throwing a white & chartreuse spinner bait and started working my way back into the creek arm. Started picking up some bass on the chunk rock banks. Nothing over 16 inches with most of them being in that 13 to 15 inch range. I probably caught 15 to 20. I came to a secondary point and I grabbed my crappie rod. The boat was in 12 feet of water but it was a short cast to the bank. I was throwing a 1/16th oz. white and chartreuse grub. I caught a crappie. Then another. Then another. At one point I caught 5 crappie on 5 casts. They were all in 3 to 5 feet of water, maybe a little shallower. I ended up catching at least 15 to 20 crappie. All but one were between 10 and 12 inches long. The males were just starting to turn black. A few of the one's I caught were females. I also caught one decent sized white bass. I was also surprised by the number of Kentucky bass I caught, 6 or 7. The forecast for the rest of the week is for wind, and more wind. I hope it dies down this weekend so I can take me son and grandson and we can do some catching, not just fishing.

My uncle & I are fishing Thursday & Friday & putting in at Fairfield. Any tips on getting into some fish in that general area? Uncle & his buddy are after cats & I'd love to get into some crappie or white bass. Wouldn't mind trolling a bit in the hopes of maybe a walleye, too. Any tips or advice on getting bit this time of year would be greatly appreciated.

Any tips or advice for fishing the Talley Bend area? Might try to get out with the missus one evening next week. Was thinking maybe cruising up to around Cedar Bluff, or maybe down a couple miles & explore that cove/inlet to the west.

Hot Spots map only talks about bass in that area. Anything else interesting there? We don't really care what we catch, just wanna get out & hopefully catch something tasty for supper.
