    A Quick Trip

Sandy and I took a trip to our favorite fishing hole. We did not catch big numbers but we did catch some nice quality fish.

  3. Found ourselves upstate and close to a spot where I had found goldfish from a tip. Today only saw a few goldfish. The ones around me all had those guardian bluegill. So all I got were chunky bluegill on the corn and no goldies😒. Livie connected on a healthy goldfish. Livie #91 L Goldfish

  5. I went to the X games in Aspen a few years ago, It is pretty awesome. Expensive though, I ordered a double Rum and coke at a restaurant and it was $37, so that was my dinner for the night.

If your getting hung up in rocks too much, just don’t let it sit too long. I learned the hard way for years doing this. Let it tick the bottom and keep your rod top at 11:00 and keep it moving. Don’t let it settle. If you can’t feel it then up the weight

  8. Ya know, the thing I like most about forums is that you can just stop reading and go elsewhere when a topic gets boring, or simply does not interest you anymore. It isn't like a face to face conversation... where if you just suddenly turn and walk away, you are perceived as being rude. Just a little tip to assist with your happiness and sanity while visiting here. 👍

  12. Its not surprising that the bass eat giant jigs. We catch HUGE crawdads at table rock. Some are pushing 10 inches long. It seems like most are about 6-8 inches long including the claws.

  13. Thanks Mr Bill for inspiring me to drag out the big jigs and go looking for some deeper fish. I made up some 1 oz jigs and some large trailers and started looking around as I headed down the James from Cape Fair. The first few stops didn’t produce anything. We hit a swag on a gravel flat and my neighbor got a nice spot on the large jig. I couldn’t get a bite or so I thought. I switched to a 1/2 oz gp jig with a homemade summer craw (paca craw knockoff) and started getting some action. The bite was extremely light. Several times just picking up the bait we would find one on. We only boated about 10 fish mostly spots. No other deeper places produced. I guess I need to drag out my topo maps and do some more studying. I’m guessing that they were around 20’ deep since we were mostly in 30’. I plan to look for more places Thursday morning.

  14. Canadian border is now open. I think he went to lake Ontario at least 2 days. Lots of these guys the last two derby's ran 90 plus miles each way. I believe I read somewhere they only fished 2-3 hrs. the rest was drive time.

  15. Just got back yesterday from fishing 5 days up at Mille Lacs. Targeting big smallies. We struggled but caught a few 3.5 lbers and several 2.5 lbers. Beautiful fish. Tiger stripes so pronounced! Beautiful country. And good to get out of the heat. Had to put my fleece on a couple of times. 62 when we left. 95 by the time we hit Des Moines.!! I do love the brown fish!!

I am well, thank you. I have merely discovered that a 45 minute drive to a mediocre fishing lake full of drunk wakeboats to a boat that sits in the water and not on a lift p****s me off. Especially since the slip rental is over $3000 a year and there is nowhere to store the boat where we live. I can fish 1 or 2 days a month March through October with a good guide on Grand, TR, or Bull and not use up the money until I am 80.
