  1. Lol, well lets just say he liked the idea of using daddy's baitcaster, but I've got a tried and true zebco 33 for him right now... We have a lot of fun, he's into coach pitch baseball now, I've been to every game until yesterday, job had my by the you know what's yesterday. We are kinda behind, only way to dig out is work your tail off..
  2. I'M ReadyToTake Him, And He's Ready, But I'veBeen Averaging 16 Hours Days Lately...): When I Get Caught Up From All He Rain, We AreGoing Asap
  3. He's ready to go!!
  4. That's the same thing I've heard Al about the big ones. Some of those tournaments they have produce 20 pound stringers supposedly. I cross that river a lot headed to the Eleven Point, but plan to try that section of the Current out soon, hopefully during a weekday!
  5. Thanks Tim, I've heard it's pretty good. I'm interested in trying it someday, as it's only an hour drive from my home. I also heard this past week from a guy in the know, that weekends in the summers are out as the Jetboats are thick up there. He likes fishing it in the spring!
  6. Thanks Brian, that is something I've got to do soon. Chad is looking at getting a Cuda, so if he gets that, we will be wanting to do that someday, i'll holler at ya when we do! Plan on using mine in the Southfork this summer when we go to Hardy!
  7. Fished some high water earlier in the week, and found ourselves fishing creeks that run into to it, that had water backed up in there, pretty good Kentucky bass fishing in those, we were right on the state line in this pic! Anyhow, took this pic and after looking at it on here, thought it was a pretty neat pic!
  8. Made it to the river today finally, as the rains have kept me out of the field so I could go, but also had the river at a high flow still. The water cleared thoughout the day, and looked pretty good by noon, but there was a lot of current that added a lot of difficulty in fishing, especially for the boat handler.. We had a short day because I had to get back to take my little boy to a tee ball game, (can't miss those!). Anyhow, started out pretty good catching some kentuckys and a dandy Largemouth up in a backed out creek, that got things going, but then we focused on trying to pull out a smallie, and boy let me tell ya, they must of had lockjaw, or we didn't find them. Threw everything but the kitchen sink, I had 5 rods rigged and also my TFO 5wt with the jig and float. Tried a lot of soft plastics for awhile in the current, trying to find them behind wooded cover in the current, I tried, worms, chompers, and crawdad imitaitons. Chad tried some of those as well, plus a jig and pig. Caught all my fish but one on a Jerkbait, so I used it more than I planned for in pursuit of the smallie. Chad caught a nice Largemouth on a "Riverbilly from Jennybug bitis out of Thayer MO, trying to support the local cause I guess. It reminds me a lot of a Chomper, which I tried today as well. Got broke in on my new baitcaster, first time in 10 years since I've used one, and loved that, bought a good on this time, think that was my problem years ago. I was a lot more efficient with it on a jerkbait for sure! It was a nice day to be on the river, and caught some pretty good fish, think we needed another day or two possibly before the smallmouth bite to be on? I'm still not to familiar with this area, so maybe I'm missing something, but we sure covered some good looking smallmouth water, although these pics don't show that, we caught the spots and largemouth were you would expect to, in the slack water and eddys. Got some good river footage on my gopro I might edit out someday.
  9. Thanks guys for the advice. Just got the boat ready to head that way in the morning, talked to a friend that lives on the river near Pocahontas, he said it cleared a lot today, it would have to be in better shape up past the state line. I do know of several slack water areas up there, might take advantage of the higher flow, we will see tomorrow. Cody, if you could you should come up there and join us!
  10. Due to all the rain we've been getting, no much work I can do for the next few days, so am trying to get Tuesday free to go smallmouth fishing. I'm thinking about going to the Narrows, it's been over a year since I've been to that access, and it was in the winter. I am a little familiar with a few miles upstream of the narrows, but was wondering if there's some good smallmouth fishing downstream from there. I'm taking my Supreme, and with the higher flows figure I can get around where I need to go. Also considering heading to Arkansas, maybe Dalton, but figure the further north I can go, the clearer the water, but I want to fish an area that I can use soft plastics this time. Thanks for any info, Bret
  11. Buzz, I am considering trying that, it's just if I resell it without ever using it, might be little easier to sell being fresh out of the box. I'm unconventional as it is even with spinning, I switch hands even with the spinning rod, I tried some lefty cranking before, and I can do it, but just doesn't feel as natural. Like you said, for pitching, flipping and finesse worms which I love to do, that's not a problem, but for cranking and topwater that would be nice if I could adapt to the lefty retrieve, decisions, decisions...lol It's a bigger deal since I sunk almost a hundred bucks in that reel, probably can get that back, they retail at places like academy and BPS for 130.
  12. Al, the box it came in has the 200G6, then just looked at the reel, and it has 201G6, so there ya go, guess it got in the wrong box sometime or another.... Guess i'm on a losing streak ordering fishing stuff this week, I also ordered a casting rod to go with it "spending some birthday money", a Falcon Bucoo 5-17, which i'm excited about, but went with the wife to Jonesboro last night, and saw in Academy Sports they had 20 dollars off on clearance on the same rod I ordered.. Oh well, pays to do your homework I guess.
  13. Thanks guys, I figured that was the case. First time I've got burned on Ebay, maybe they can work with me on it, just will take time to ship it back then get the other one. Thought about trying it lefty, but just don't think that will work..
  14. This seems like an elementary question to me, but here it goes, just wanna be sure I didn't misunderstand something. I have decided after a 10 year absence of using a baitcaster, that I was gonna do the right thing this time and buy a decent one, so I ordered a Shimano Citica on Ebay for some less dollars as compared to in the store. It's was called a right handed reel, which I reel right handed, but it came in awhile ago, and it's got the handle on the left. My question is, is this a mistake on there part, or is a right handed baitcaster called that because you suppose to cast with your right hand and reel with you left?..lol Just making sure I'm missing something, I've been a spinning reel guy for awhile now?
  15. That's a great pic all around Chief!! That could be on a postcard!
  16. Holy Cow guys, those are some awesome fish, congrats on getting on the water and catching some pigs!!
  17. Ditto on what Mic said! I've gotta get with you sometime on some trout!
  18. Another dandy Chief, what's not to like about that!
  19. Sharp rig, congrats! Heard the crappie are biting well on Wappepello, it's on the rise right now.
  20. I Love Both Areas As They Have There OwnPluses. LivingInThe Flatlands, I Love Me Some Ozark Country. Thankful ToHave A Place To Go There!
  21. Just Having Some Fun Practicing
  22. Thanks for the idea's Paul, that's some sweet Mods!! The only thing I've done with mine so far is make a over the shoulder gopro mount out of some PVC pipe that can fit in the rod holder, pretty easy and cheap. Just used a 4 foot pipe, with a 45 on it with a cap. I used an adhesive gopro mount on the cap, but did screw it in just to be safe, works pretty good. Those rod stagers are a great idea, but on the 13 models they have made those taller, so hopefully those will work! It also come with a Ram mount with a rod holder you can screw into some threaded holes, pretty neat deal!! I hope so, plan on using it in the Hardy area this summer when (or if) I can ever get away from the farm. If it keeps raining like this, guess i'll have time...
  23. Yeah, I stood some in it the other day, but it's not my preferred way yet, i'm hoping to get it back in on of those ditches tomorrow when it's a bit warmer and practice somemore. I made some casts, but need to get a better feel of it before I do much of that. As far as sitting in the high seat and fishing and paddling, that was very nice!!
  24. Lol BeCameraAngle, ThePaddle Curves Were Towards Me When I Was PaddliNg, I Believe The Gopro Fisheye Effect IsMakingItLook That Way. Sorry Phone Is Caping EveryTThing Lol
  25. Good question...lol. I really don't know, feel free to let me know, that was my first attempt at a double blade, I thought that was right, seemed to get the job done.
