  1. Mmm...Harter House.
  2. Wish you had too, but for your sake, not mine.
  3. Have you seen a 10" magdraft? Big critter.
  4. The green sky does point to that.
  5. Slightly less sensitive is a plus. It's counterintuitive, but the whole thing is, really. That softer tip is key to not pulling it from them, and from not swinging on every perch. We use a couple of cheapo Lew's 7' UL speed sticks all summer, including here.
  6. Only thing I could find locally (Rogers, lol) was the Falcon Expert 7' "finesse jig" rod. Light, sensitive, accurate, and feels like you are fishing with a golf club when you stick one. Zero shock absorber effect, especially close to the boat. It's a tricky blank to get right. Needs some power, but absolutely has to have enough "tip" to prevent taking it away from fish. Like a drop shot tip, with a shakey head butt. Walleye rods come the closest, but tend to be too moderate. Hardest part is just not being able to find any to look at.
  7. Just don't break a discontinued Ned rod high sticking one. Don't ask me how I know. 😒
  8. There's our 5 1/2' pistol grip tribute. It's a great little walking bait rod, especially around docks.
  9. Yep. But I have issues.
  10. We actually thought about night fishing this weekend, but trying to switch back and forth is a bear. Or it is for me.
  11. It was much worse than either the Crownline Poker Run, or the wooden boat cruise yesterday.
  12. We've had them do all of the above, several times this week. They're the equivalent of seeing a pristine 1989 Crown Vic in the grocery store parking lot.
  13. Don't know about the lower end, but Kimberling to Joe Bald was a genuine spectacle. We headed back through it around 130pm, and hoo boy, it was not safe. Honestly, we all make faces about the ballast boats and cruisers, but the dadgum pontoons just piddling along fast enough to keep you from running through some of it are a menace.
  14. I'm not even here. I'm still home. To complete the illusion, these were not Harter House ribeyes...
  15. If you want a pitching reel, the Lew's Jason Christie is hard to beat. Walmart special at around $70. Can find them cheaper on eBay. We're running about six of them now, since 2017.
  16. Probably ran 12 miles all told. That's a long haul unless it's fall.
  17. All in the timing.
  18. There's at least one creek in the Kimberling area that is just thick with shad. The blacks threw them all over the boat yesterday.
  19. Nah. Just wanted to take the boy exploring. Same stuff is working everywhere, more or less. Wind was a bear. Had a full dose of wind. They can rest easy today.
  20. ...that we do, in fact, leave Schooner Creek.
  21. Zebra mussels might take care of it. 😉
  22. Nope. We both have the same reaction to physics.
  23. Good grief, ours is taking USAFA physics online. Me: "nanananana can't hear you" 😬
