Great day!! What was the water temp over there?

Happy birthday Jeff. I hope it’s a great one!!

I dropped in at 7:10 this morning - out at 10:15. Water Temp was 76, cloudy for the most part and the wind was blowing pretty good. I had a pretty good day- caught around 20 total with a good variety of fish. Blue gill, crappie, channel cat, small mouth, Kentucky and Largemouth. The crappie was about 12”. I had one Kentucky that might have been 15” but I didn’t measure it. I took pictures of these 3 largemouths and the catfish. All I threw today was a jerk bait. I picked up a new color at baitwrx in Springfield and wanted to try it - it worked right off the bat so I stuck with it. You can see it in the picture - it’s called Northern Special.

I have had a couple doubles but none with any size or able to win me anything- but fun.

I don’t throw the squarebills much so I really don’t have too many. I need to pick up some but not sure what works best. What brand do you guys like and rely on the most?

Nice report! Feeling that drag go - sure does get a heart pounding!! Even if it is a catfish...👍.

Not a lot to report because I only fished for 2 hours. I had 2 keepers and 2 short fish. Best was this 19” smallmouth. He fought hard and pulled some drag- a lot of fun. Had a K that just touched the line. All caught on a 2.5 square bill - that I ended up loosing- dang it. I tossed a buzz bait for 30 minutes to start the morning but never had a look. Water was 85.3. It’s muddy and you have a few floaters out there so be careful. Lots of boats running between Cape and Virgin Bluff today so it is manageable.
