  1. Same deal with me. Just wasn't ever much of a worm fisherman until one day this year I decided I needed to be. I think I bought the big ones because they were on clearance or something 😄 have an old 2 sided fenwick tackle box with gator tails, kangaroo worms, jelly worms, culprits and cremes I've had for 30 sum years . There's even some older worms in there too but have no idea what they are.
  2. Sometimes I think people do stuff like that deliberately just to try and get a rise out of somebody. They were almost stopped, then they saw me and kept coming. Hurry up Tuesday! Eager to get back out there!
  3. I like a dude who just picks another spot if somebody is fishing where he wanted to. I had a very odd experience last time I fished. Not another boat in sight for hours and then here comes one around the corner about a mile away and heads straight for me. They started to slow down then passenger points at me then driver presses on the gas pedal. They shut down within a few yards which is fine but then literally come right next to me I can read the boat numbers. I'm still OK with that. All good until passenger bounces their crappie jig off my boat and snags my anchor rope. I then pulled up the rope, cut the line , and went back to fishing with that jig still hung in my rope 😄 they both said something about it but I was nice and smiled years ago I would have told them what a stupid idiot they were, but I'm a much more spiritually awakened man these days. Just secretly laughed at them when they got the boat stuck on the bottom a few minutes after. Great fish Bill!
  4. Have caught fish year round and as deep as 50' if you have the patience to let it sink that long 😃 I make a sweet custom weedless jig that's multi purpose including wacky rigs.
  5. Had a few hollow body 🐸 that needed new legs. It was pretty easy. https://youtu.be/NgLCCIj5pLI Can easily customize the colors and lengths. https://youtu.be/8WmYjJKdTIc for sure will try this! Now I have a use for the tails on my torn up gambler swimbaits. 😀 https://youtu.be/qHOYLrqCuFo in action FYI I'm not affiliated with the company, just sharing info
  6. For sale best offer
  7. I wouldn't have known what it was without the name on the bottom
  8. That's it!
  9. I do that too😃 seems I hook more fish in the roof of the mouth which I like
  10. Another clue.. I believe it was the first lure ever made by this manufacturer of 3 brothers
  11. Nice job Ham👍 Got any big worms?? I've had 3 rods rigged with a big worm all month. A yum mighty weightless tx rig. A big c mac with a 3/16 slip sinker tx rig, and another c mac weightless tx rig. I'm thinking in that stained water and all the cover the large profile worm is easily visible and looks likes a baby 🐍 that's been flooded out of his hiding spot . All the 🐍 I've seen lately on the water are about the same length and diameter as my worms. All depends on the wind ,clarity, and depth which worm gets bit the most. If you can find a sudden sharp depth change on flats you'll find bass there. Doesn't have to be deep but just a quick depth change. Water color looked good where you fished! Try a ditch ,or a steeper bank that transitions to a flatter bank,a flooded small cut /pocket like where you caught some flipping. Deeper water close by has been a key deal for me. Bill Dance fishing show yesterday was a great example! Those debris mats are worth a few flips ,and a 🐸 too! Especially when it's sunny .theres baby gills and bass fry schooled up under those mats right now. If only more people would pick up trash. I've never seen so many one dollar mini liquor bottles floating around😡 and honey flavor seems to be the most liked Every time I go I get a small grocery bag full of people's crap. I even put a trash can tied to a tree by the road and people don't use it. 10' away there was a fire pit full of beer cans and bottles, smh
  12. Exactly. I'd rather go toe to toe on a short string Vs deep fishing any day(except a holiday wknd) if it's an option! Largemouth love flooded cover
  13. 😅 so funny
  14. Finding active feeding schools on shad will get you more bites. Electronics are very handy in finding this. Pick a section of the lake and start scanning while watching for streaks and clouds. Drop shot or a spoon ,swimbait ,grub ect. fished at the depths you mark them at. Also have a topwater ready to fire into surfacing fish. imo that's the most consistent pattern on these big reservoirs.
  15. Over the last 30 years or so a lot of the good spots have been silted in due to flooding and erosion. It was a big problem way back when. Probably still a factor today. Better always carry a chainsaw while floating the B. Never know when you'll have to saw your way through a 80' tall Sickamore thats blocking your path. Fall Winter is the only time to fish it imo. Spring and Summer just isn't as good of a bass bite from my experience. I fished it regularly for over 20 years . Have seen every mile of it. You are right, not much water. Summertime I've drug a jon across gravel 40yds in between holes . But was a lot younger and much more aggressive then ha. Glad to hear there's some still swimming around! I have a buddy who lets me camp and launch on his farm. Miles in between public access makes it a great spot! It is,and will always be, my favorite MO stream. 😀 I used to cut class at Harvard on the Hill 😆aka ECC and fish right there under hwy 50 bridge in Union for red horse and channels.
  16. evilcatfish I agree. I know of a Winter time smallie honey hole on the Bourbeuse.yes, the Bourbeuse lol Haven't fished it in 20+ years since I moved away. Maybe things have changed since then. Its where I caught my first pb smallie a 4-9 on a slug o in the mid 80's There were some really big ones in there that got away. Could anchor the boat and fish one hole all day because there were so many smallies and largemouth bass wintered in there. Very seldom ever kept a bass to eat. Big goggle eye ,catfish and crappie were better eating imo . I hear the spotted bass are everywhere in the river now. Back then we hardly ever caught one.
  17. Cool! Thanks for telling me. Good deal
  18. Nope not a tadpolly, Here's a clue. These were first made in Oklahoma in the early 60's.. I think.
  19. I know this one ,but who can name it make and manufacturer?
  20. Had never seen one of these so I paid a couple bucks for it at a yard sale. What is it?
  21. My pb smallie was from Bull less than a mile from TMR. Weighed 4.11. On a side note, Before bull dozers ruined several of the creeks that flow into the theodosia arm, smallmouth creek fishing was crazy good 20 years ago! Now there's hardly any brown bass and am lucky to catch 1 15" a year. Holes that used to hold large numbers of fish are now 8" deep or less and little to no current thanks to gravel excavation. All mighty dollar wins again 😡
  22. Need to figure out how to get our baits down through the sunken forests, through the decades of tangled remains of old lines, and then back up under the ledges that go way back into the bluffs. Divers who dare to venture into the abyss of entanglements have some very interesting stories of 7+lb brownies
  23. Thanks Bill. Both fish just exploded on it when they bit. First time breaking out the 🐸 this year. It usually takes me a couple few missed bites to remember to say "1 Mississippi" before setting. 😄 The bottom fish actually hit it so hard I saw her whole body and head with mouth open as she grabbed it! She went up in the air and back down into the water with the 🐸 in her mouth before I pulled back.
  24. I've never owned a bass pro reel .sorry no help from me
  25. Ebay has Quantum Icon PT reels 55 bucks. Free shipping. Reg price 120 .there were 3 left last time I looked. I have 3 of them now and have been using 2 of them for a few years with no problems or complaints. The finish is still in great condition too. I throw about anything from top to bottom with them. 18lbs of drag will stop about any bass from wrapping you up. Also have 2 older tatulas one is type r but I can't recall the other model.it was one of the first ones I think way back when. They both still work great. Both the Icon and Tatula will launch a spook Of all my reels my favorites are the Ardent Apex Elites. They do the heavy duty work with ease. I've got 2 of the Icons on newer Fenwick Lunker Stiks 6'8mh for all my topwater and most cranks. really like the new spiral veil blanks with carbon fiber and fenglass. Lightweight and perfect action imo
