we couldn't get them to bite , less generation may or may not have helped idk it was dropping hard today the tops of a lot of the bushes were exposed and covered in damp green stinky moss. 663 ish by Friday. Most of the fish we saw on the screen were in the deeper 30-40' channel suspended and unfriendly to us. Somebody is catching them somewhere I'm sure.

4/10 Just crappie fished around Theodosia today from 1-6pm. 55-57 degrees WT. Tried every color and size combos of jigs, road runners, and soft plastics I owned. We each caught a baby largemouth and those were the only 2 bites I recall.. Drifted with live bait and tried it w/ bobbers, nothing to show for it.. Tried deep and shallow and everywhere I saw fish on the screen. Brought my little Lowrance today off my boat. Trolled for a while and that didn;t produce either.Marked lots of fish in the upper water column over deeper water but they didn't want to play with us .Tomorrow is another day

4/9 Buddy wanted to fish Spring Creek from 12-5:30. Fished from the mouth at pt13 all the way to the back trying coves, points, channels, flats, bluffs ect. trying to find them. Fished 1'-50' deep.We caught 1 tiny spotted bass and 1 GIANT green sunfish on TRD worms the first few casts on pt13 then went hours w/o a bite. We tried just about everything I had in my tackle box. Even trolled cranks for an hour with no luck. No carp jumping,no shad activity. Too quiet !! I don;t know Spring Ck, very well so we tried the typical textbook spots for pre spawn bass and crappie. Lake is several feet higher than the last time we fished there and we caught some crappie and smallies that day. Really could have used electronics to find them on a day like yesterday, especially if they were still running 8 units.

don't know, no temp guage on his boat, didn't see any gills or minnows up shallow along the bank so I 'd guess 52-53

We fished a main creek arm from 9-4.. 8-9' vis. When it was calm we could see bass swimming around the boat in groups of 3-5.. Tried crappie,, nothing, tried whites, none. My third cast w/ a swimbait got bit by a small keeper largemouth. a fast retrieve with the swimbait to get their reaction .When the big shad would break surface around us , we got bites. Swimbait bite flat out died as it got to be afternoon and we switched to bottom baits the rest of the day .Lots of action from 13-14 1/2" lm. 6 small keepers . Threw everything back.

been hearing night time is the right time, haven't chased any eyes yet this year, have been seeing a few non keeper walleye swimming around where I've been bass fishing,

well, I got them wet in a creek near the house yesterday. The gills took a look at all of them, had a few hits on the bigger one's, but with debris floating everywhere and cold water they wouldn't take anything on top, but they really liked, and actually ate the middle one. Used a bb shot about 6" above it to get it down into a 4' hole behind a big shallow rock that had current flow over the top of it. They were stacked in there! a few hand size one's but most were 4-5", no pics , was wading.

why even post dumb stuff like this?

first attempt, didn't use any patterns(obviously lol) just used what I was feeling at the moment should have put something in the pic for size reference but they are all about dime/nickle size, 6 and 8 hooks

Tying flies on tippet

yes, like em a lot, gives more action to the fly too imo which gives me more confidence -
What water temps define the season(s) for you?
Fish24/7 replied to mixermarkb's topic in Table Rock Lake
this guy might know a thing or 2 https://www.bassmaster.com/vandams-6-season-bass-guide If my buddy would have had electronics ,temp guage or a good map in/ on the boat the last 3 days I fished Bull you bet I would have been looking for those "highways", we caught several spots and largemouth on the flats pretty shallow in that buckbrush ,but they were all short fish and 90% males so I was thinking the bigger males/females were somewhere behind us in a ditch or something. The areas we fished was sort of unfamiliar to me this time of year, don;t fish it much in the spring but with the wind it was the "best place" to launch . if the wind would have let us we would have went to the dirty water way up the other arm. I know it very well and don't need electronics or a map up there in the Springtime. Somebody we know had a very good day up there yesterday ! found 54-57 degree water they said.. What Kevin says in the article is pretty much what they did. -
I'll tell you what I think in a just second...I have to pick my jaw up off the floor first! NICE ONE'S!

3/22 3-7pm FINALLY got to crappie fish for a couple hours casting the f-n-f w/ homemade marabou jigs and swimming 2" grubs by brush piles in 10-15 fow. and transition banks. Caught 9, all keepers but 1. Nice average 12"-13". Bass fished the rest of the day on the flats. caught some little spots and lm all about an inch short of keeper on 3 and 4" grubs, white or pearl was working the best for us. Going again tomorrow .
-
well, plans to crappie fish how we wanted yesterday and today were scrapped with the wind conditions. We know where they are staging just could not fight the wind to get after them yet.Tomorrow will attempt to try again. Don;t know the water temp. Finding a few hungry smallmouth . Grubs, tubes, jerkbaits all caught fish fairly shallow on various bank types. Friend caught his personal best smallie today.

appreciate the info ,ty

Mark you know me, I'm that guy who will sit on a spot for hours if needed and wait for them to bite or try to make one bite if I know they are there.,lol when you hear that voice in your head say "maybe I should leave", listen to it and GO. these lakes LIVE shad can be a major factor the majority of the year, if they ain;t around neither are the bass most days. Sometimes boat position has a lot to do with how many we catch too . By simply putting the boat "up shallow" and casting "out to deep" can be very productive. How many times do you see people park their boat a cast from the bank and work their baits shallow to deep all day and say "they ain't bitin' " when they could possibly be catching A LOT MORE doing just the opposite that day.. Big Swimbait guys will tell you the same thing electronics will help with the lure decision process , what depth you see them on the screen and how they are positioned will help you decide what to throw , once you pick a bait based on that try a couple weight sizes and colors and retrieves before trying something else, but sometimes the number of casts might be related to our confidence level with that lure jmo, in super shallow water say 10' or less for us reservoir guys then electronics aren't as important to me except for water temp and locating depth changes like ditches humps ect. , i guess if you have side scan ( i dont)that's a big plus to seeing fish in shallow water, but yeah visible patterns get the nod then, bank type, composition, cover ect. when deciding where to throw. big changes mostly depend on the weather to me, I try to change with the weather throughout the day if needed. , WT and time of year can be a deciding factor too what area of the lake to be concentrating on. GL buddy!

yep, I watched for about 5 minutes then said to myself, well, this sucks. Losing interest more and more each year. AND if the print in their magazine get's any smaller I'm going to need a magnifying glass to read it.
