  1. cool Rob, i'd better grab my RR800's next time I go trolling
  2. that's what I wanted to hear ! re spooled my pan fish reels i'm getting gill fever... when tiger lilies in the garden start blooming (now) the bull gills start moving in. They love little tiny crankbaits now on 6lb. When you catch a few on the crank. Go back through with a ds rig w/ powerbait and a crappie tube jig suspended under a float. those 3 methods are my go to for Summer Bull Shoals gills
  3. those royal blades are neat! I was looking through an old rod locker on friends dock for a minnow dipper and I found some homemade twin spins in pretty bad shape. They were 1 yellow,1 black and 1 green buck tails ,sewing thread , musky gauge wire with the hook that had the biggest barb I've ever seen on a hook that size and it looked homemade too. Guessing 5/8oz.? The blades were tiny like what you'd find on a beetle spin maybe a size smaller. When I touched the hair it fell off in my hand. Buddy said they were probably 45+ years old and his uncle had made them specifically for Bull Shoals.
  4. you can catch them. Fished with a buddy above Theodosia bridge up in the river. I'm not much on canoes but I lasted about 4 1/2 hours before my body said enough is enough. He was using chompers on a 5/16 jig, I had a texas rigged flipping tube a screw in rattle sinker and a rattle inside the tube. We've caught bass in the past fishing tree trunks when the lake is this high and we found them on the same pattern again this time. The bigger the tree trunk, the bigger the bass. Nothing huge, but we both caught a limit of 16-18" largemouth. The shady side of the tree trunk in 10' or less is where we made our casts. wasn't too excited about it to begin with, no shad activity, no carp flopping, no gar popping. Dead quiet... but it turned out alright might try to get out again tomorrow
  5. these were in a tackle box I bought at an auction over the weekend , they look unused to me,shoot me an offer if interested
  6. I haven't been to Pott's in months.
  7. thank you
  8. a jig when it's sunny is hard to beat, happy to hear you figured something out in this mess! thanks for reporting I got out last Monday. Caught the crap out of baby white bass on a red eye for about the first hour of the morning then went 3 hours without a bite. That's white bass, lol
  9. the banks are just over pressured imo, the majority of us won't leave it to find unmolested fish that willingly bite offshore. I was that way until i learned how to drop shot and use my electronics correctly to help me find fish instead of running from bank to bank hoping for a bite. I still hit the banks but only when the conditions call for it.
  10. if people really cared about the bass they wouldn't use hooks with barbs, especially treble hooks. But probably everybody here does it, I have.. I had some great hook ups and catch rates using circle style hooks on jerks, cranks and topwaters. . Haven't hooked 1 bass outside the mouth, none have been foul hooked either.. no hooks in the gut, back ,eyes, gills etc. using them. It's typically a saltwater thing but freshwater anglers should try it jmo. If circle hooks aren't your style we know that just smashing the barbs down on your hooks can make hook removal from sensitive areas a lot easier. Recently switched ALL my catfishing hooks to barbless circles and trebles too.
  11. so your definition of a good dude is somebody who doesn't follow through, and leaves you hanging for months on end. going public got Jeff to follow through...finally. I'm done talking about this now.
  12. i did move on, several months ago when I found reliable sources. so who's buying a bomber wake minnow? It looks like a jointed rebel if they work "perfect" right out of the package it might be worth a try for me
  13. thanks for the report, sucks it took 9+ months to get one ,good or bad but it takes 5 minutes to tie on a lure and make a dozen casts. 5 minutes to send me pm whether or not you like it. You don't have to wait for a topwater bite to demo/test a lure either. I could have used your input while the lure was still in prototype stages but oh well. I can't send anybody messages today. just keeps showing compose new message when I click send
  14. didn't ask for it, but thanks i guess
  15. just to clarify things I made and sold my first lure in 1989. Decades later still in business. Still giving away freebies. The last 17 years I worked in a tackle store/marina. I know marketing Mitch.
  16. so do you want some or not? I've given free samples for over 20 years.
  17. frequently I keep my squirrel/snake gun lying beside me and when they come close enough to see that I have a shot gun jet skis don't wanna play with me anymore
  18. just don't give Jeff any free tackle because he'll never use it.I sent him some baits to demo for me that he agreed to, but he never followed through.. Even after several reminders he still hasn't done it. dude , if you didn't like the lures you should have sent them back , not just throw them to the side and forget about them and then keep lying to me saying you're going to do it. I know it's been at least 9 months now since you told me you would throw these lures and I STILL have not heard anything from you about them. Guess I should have mailed them to you in a Tackle Warehouse box...... (If anybody else is interested in getting FREE tackle just ask. All I want is you to fish it ,and then report back to tell me what you think.)
  19. well that's gonna leave a nice tender knot under the skin for a while ,every time he grips a rod he'll know it
  20. maybe try something new. for example I recently took up fly fishing for gar and carp last year. Plenty of those to catch just about anywhere and I learned a bunch of new techniques that improved my skills.
  21. good luck Rob, catch some biggins
  22. well they probably won't see this post but whoever it was out there with the jet skis jumping debris and logs at high speeds with all the floating trees around not smart. With the holiday approaching it doesn't surprise me. Memorial Weekend there's always something crazy happening somewhere on the water
  23. find shad, find fish. some of the best info. a person can give imo fishing the buffet is the most consistent way I've found to catch bass in these large lakes
  24. working hard towards a day on the lake myself sounds like I need to be out there now ,good job figuring it out!
