  8. fished on the 28th, and this past Sunday morning. Wednesday fished with a buddy walking the bank for about 4 1/2 hours. We caught quite a few keeper kentuckies on grubs and trd worms. Saw 4 loons fishing in the area we were fishing. New Years day fished early morning for a few hours again walking a different bank. First fish of 2017 was a 14" spot. Caught several short lm bass and a couple more keeper spots , a 17" largemouth, and a 5lb drum. TRD worm and jerkbaits. good luck !! happy new year!
  9. Bo i edited my "force feed" comment because after I re read my post I didn't want it to start conversation with people on a defensive ,so with that being said there are NO excuses in imo . we figure out the bite or we don't. Don't really agree with some of your thoughts just now on bass behavior but that's cool.
  10. Bill weather had nothing to do with the results of your last trip imo. i'm surprised you even said that.Kind of funny to hear a professional guide blame it on the weather jk ,guess they just got hungry later in the day was all..............after you left?

A leader of 6lb fluoro or xt mono. length varires. the fly I make myself with craft hairs, feathers ,chenile and sickle hooks on regular minnow heads or these 1/16 or 1/8 UV minnow heads (http://www.cabelas.com/product/NORTHLAND-UV-FORAGE-MINNOW-DART/2359846.uts?productVariantId=4798068&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04561311&rid=20&gclid=CKPzj5fgj9ECFdm6wAodS7ACWw&gclsrc=aw.ds) i like the exrta hook for open water applications. just don't throw these around wood It's a great way to catch bass from the shore for guys like me who do a lot of bank fishing. Caught my personal best spot 2 years ago on the FnF from shore. good luck and merry christmas!

  15. line- tried copoly, mono, fluorocarbon, straight braid, braid w/fluoro and I have found there's good in all of them, but If I had to pick one it would be STEC (silver thread excalibur copoly) 8,10lb. Ten when fishing in the cover. Eight for "open water" rod- I use both spinning and casting. Medium and large jerkbaits 6'6"mf- 6'8"mf. For little jerkbaits 6'8"mxf.
  16. gitzits spoons
  17. I do a lot of bank fishing still. Go early and stay late. If one spot sucks drive to another. Have patients and confidence. You'd be surprised what you can catch from the bank in January. There's shallow bass year round.
  18. cool, you'll get used to doing that if not already. lots of fish " in the middles"

  20. Micropterus, seeing any sea gulls diving on shad?
  21. Have been pretty slow for me. I haven't used the boat since October. Walking mile after mile of Bull Shoals shoreline looking for bites, doctors orders, more exercise and fewer Doritos. Finding some lures but mostly junk. Anyway, I had one really good day where I caught 29 from the bank, all released. A mix of flatheads, walleye, whites, and small largemouths with a few keeper kentuckies too on dixie spoons 1/2 or 3/4.casting from shore into 15-25fow. That day the wind was blowing directly into where I was fishing and they were stacked in there. The next few times I tried it there, no wind,no fish Last week the crawdads were really on the go. Some were even out of the water walking the bank. Set a crawdad trap and only caught a couple. not much else to report really, good luck!
  22. smh, beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess
