I understand. It's hard for me to ignore a lay down log or an isolated bush when there's a spinnerbait and squarebill tied on the rods sitting right beside me. I just can't pass that up.

No ,just dry BBQ rub, diabetic parents so no sugar

Both. Suspended and on beds. Some are dropping eggs and some are still staging

Can't wait to put some crappie fillets on this smoker! Ordered a new grill and new smoker today! Nothing fancy, paid less than $200 total for both, free shipping! Had a big smoker/grill and it was great, but it's time to retire it, and I couldn't BBQ and smoke meat at the same time, this way with 2 separate units I can😉

4/23 WT 60-62 Crappie fished all day in that darn wind! Glad I remembered to grab the big anchor today because it was a must have. Bite was slow, came and went in little spurts. Caught 27 total.17 keepers, 10 shorts. Anchor on the edge of the brush in 14-15' and cast into the brush in 8-13'. Thank goodness I had some weedless jigs because the crappie were hunkered down in the thick of it.. So difficult to feel a bite with 1/16 oz jigs and 15+ wind white caps. No telling how many fish bit and I didn't even know it. Was nice to dip up a few shallow after the wind quit late in the day. I kept a few for supper tomorrow. Have to eat some first before I can keep any more

Awesome Mark👍I need to make a run to small mouth water soon!

Both from what I've seen. White and black crappie still had eggs so did the perch. Any day now I expect a massive spawn. I have yet to see any crappie beds either.

Planted from seed about 3 years ago maybe. Never grew taller than 6", never bloomed, survived the Winters. This year it took off! Looks like it's going to bloom! What the heck is it? I don't really remember.

That's why I left them on 😉

I love picking the meat off the bone too,and licking my fingers before grabbing a drink from a frozen mug of sweet tea, mmm mmm Had some sliced purple onion, fresh lemon wedges, and some rice with fire roasted vegetables.

Absolutely no doubt! you probably have some long crappie rods. Get over the top of the brush in 12-14' on a flat and drop a jig down 4-6' where you see them up suspended. I found a mother load of crappie. A bank about 200' long with hundreds of them staging. They are waiting for the water to warm up a few more degrees or the lake to crest maybe. none have spawned yet that I have cleaned. Also found some shallow in 4-6' in the grassy weeds, just not as many. Same thing dipping a jig.

Not today, hand size was the limit. These were hard enough to find. I looked for about 2 hours before I finally did. Didn't get any Jumbos.

4/18 Today was an attempt to catch multi species. Was successful in my attempt. Bluegill of course, crappie, white bass, and largemouth. Gills were all small so I didn't mess with them too much. Caught some nice bass on custom painted cranks and homemade spinnerbaits. Every bass I caught was in 4-6'. Every Gill caught was in 4-6'. Every crappie and the 2 whites were in 4-6'. WT was 55 early rising to 59 by late afternoon. This Crappie was a personal best. 16 1/2" guessing 3lbs. Caught some big black ones today. 15 1/2" 15" Released all the big crappie. Kept some smaller ones and a couple small whites too. 4lb. Brownie I caught the other day forgot to post the pic.
