They didn't come easy either, had to fire my m&p at a pissed off German Shepard that snuck up on me from behind. Teeth showing, growling! I never walk in the woods without protection. Didn't shoot the dog but scared it pretty good 😄 No idea where it came from there's no houses around where I morel hunt. No collar either.

  11. They run up a river or feeder creeks until they can't swim any further is what I heard. High water means they can go a lot further back than usual I guess? I've seen them so far up a creek during high water they are swimming around in what is typically dry Creek bottoms during normal pool.
  12. I saw 1 can sell for $65,000. I just don't get it man... The auction started at under $20 too If people are willing to bid sky high and then pay it, I guess it's not price gouging then really. Hope you find several cans!
  13. Most of these were planted from seed on March 16. Belgiums are much bigger than I ever imagined after just 18 days. The 2 square containers are Mortgage Lifter and Boxcar Willie took about ten days for seed to germinate. The round one in the center, cocktail tomatoes, about 6 days germination.. Everything in a red cup is Belgium Pink. This new LED light is really nice! A 36W 4' light bar.About the same length as the tub 😄
  14. Dandy brownies!
  15. We had a 365v in the family for 20 years. ♥️
  16. My Father has zero patience with me,I don't have siblings, so you can imagine how hard it was for me to learn how to bass fish in the beginning. He has plenty of patience for fishing obviously. I was hooked from the first time I went to Bennett Springs and caught my first trout when I was 3 or 4. Still have the Polaroid pic! Anyway Dad fished a lot of tournaments, still does a few at 74. When I was about 5 or 6 he told me" this is an Abu Garcia 5500, if you want to catch bass and fish tournaments like me,you better learn how to use it" . Up until then I used small Zebcos. He would set the spool tension ,drag , and say "now don't mess with it!" Hand it to me with a Lunker Lure tied on it, and I would learn by watching him cast his. How to time when to engage the reel a split second before the lure hit the water. How to get the bait to plane on top instantly so it didn't sink into cover and get snagged immediately. Before long I was tying my own knots, side arm roll casting under over hanging limbs, and could tune the bait to run parallel to log jams. That was the only bait he let me use until I got it figured out. Then one day he tossed me a spinnerbait.Same learning process again. One lure at a time. All we used then was pistol grip Fenwicks so the whole combo felt heavy and huge in my kid hands. In the beginning stages every backlash I had was followed by a few curse words from him about not thumbing the spool properly he'd say " I'm only puting line on here one more time so you'd better not get another birds nest or your not gonna use my stuff anymore and I'm just going to leave you at home next time I go!" 😄 So you bet every cast from then on was made with total concentration haha. So with all the cursing and whatnot I had it mastered within a short time. I knew how to use any bait in his box after a few months, and was on my way to fishing tournaments by age 8or 9. We won't mention the first times I tried to park the old gold Terry Eagle on the trailer at the end of the derby day when I was about 9 😆. Had to sit on a cushion and a life jacket just to see over the huge paper graph mounted on the dash. To a kid it was like driving a semi! Like I said the man has zero patience. But you learn quickly when someone is yelling at you when you're doing it wrong. Now Grandpa on the other hand was an entirely different fisherman. He always told my Dad, "you're too hard on that boy" when the 3 of us went camping. Dad would be all seriousness bass fishing like every day was derby day. Grandpa had 14'Jon boat and a canoe, fly rod combos, Mitchell spinning reel combos, and it was all about catfish and panfish with Earl. Straw hat, chewing tobacco,Folgers can full of worms,, bobbers, split shots, and gold Eagle Claw hooks. He tied up the boat under a shade tree or to a root wad on our local river, or tight line fished from the bank. No seriousness to his methods, no competition between us. If I screwed up he never mentioned it. He showed me how to set trot lines, limb lines. While Dad was the jug fisherman when it came to cats, and he still puts out noodles every Fall. Earl passed when I was 17, but while he was around he showed me there's more to fishing than just being serious and competitive. That you need to stop and look around once in a while, pay attention to nature and appreciate what the Creator has given us. Dad was never in a million years going to show his "soft side"😄 but he has one. Being exposed to both the competitive and relaxed side of fishing was a blessing. Dad has his way of teaching me, it probably wasn't the nicest or calmest way, but it worked. We won a bunch of tournaments together and eventually I got my own bass boat and fished derbies by myself and with others with a room full of plaques and trophies to show for it. Dad knows his stuff for sure when it comes to bass fishing. When we moved to Bull Shoals in 1999 we both had to learn how to finesse fish together, that was an adventure all by itself, lol. We had fished Bull for years but always the Theodosia arm or Spring Creek. Never in Arkansas. I think we both had to buy spinning gear and learn how to catch small mouth. Grubs??Gitzits? What's that?? I don't fish competitively anymore, just got burned out on it after doing it for 20+ years. So yeah more about kids, I have had opportunities to teach in 4H fishing years ago when in college. It was a lot of fun!
  17. Just did this one today. When it dries will add some micro flake. Wild mushroom brown which is actually kinda golden, metallic black, wild roses which is sort of dark purpleish, and evening violet that's a brighter purple. Just a small amount of each just enough to make it visible. The paint colors are pearlized White, pearlized gold mixed with Iridescent yellow, iridescent purple, ,some transparent bright red on the underside, and opaque black
  18. When I was around that age Dad would get home from work around 6, load up the boat, and we would get to the Theodosia park around 11,11:30pm. Depending on what time of year it was we would either sleep in the bed of the truck in the camper shell in the ramp parking lot, or launch in the dark and fish till daylight ,go get breakfast at Gigs in Isabella, and then go back out. We would stay a couple, maybe 3 days, usually a weekend trip. When I got tired I just slept on the bench seat of the boat ,or if it was cold, on the floor of the boat wrapped in a blanket. I remember waking up in the middle of the night soaking wet from dew many times, or from the sound of Dad yelling "GET THE NET BOY!" 5 years old is a little young to stay out so long like I had too. But it made me a better fisherman, especially at night Sometimes we would fish for 12-16 hours straight. Cooler stocked up on food and drinks. By the time I got home I was burned out! 😆 We only made a 3 or 4 trips each year back then. But I still remember many of them. That's what you want your kids to have too is lifelong childhood memories of fishing with Dad.👍
  19. Awesome 👍
  20. 4/1 10-3 Went morel hunting before hitting the lake, found 17. Got in on the last fifteen minutes or so of a white bite. Caught 6 females and then they either left or got lockjaw cause I couldn't get bit again. Still mad at those bluegill too! They can be picky about colors sometimes. They ignored the hot pink and chartreuse today, but loved the fluorescent orange and red. 🤔 Took home 6 big one's ,9". They all made a decent meal with the ones from before ,and had a side of some fresh fried morels to go with.
  21. 3/31 11-3 Panfish adventure! They we're in about 6', suspended in bushes. Ice jigs tipped with power bait and worms. Have no idea how many I caught. I sat on one spot for an hour and a half before it wore out. Took home 12 gills that's all I wanted to mess with. If they weren't at least 8" I threw em back. Tried for crappie but didn't catch any. I don't know if it was the all night rain we had, or the strong North wind, or my choice of lure.
  22. 3/30 8-3 Went to Big Creek ,water was cold. 50-51° . Caught 3 small bass . Fished about 2 hours loaded up and headed to Theodosia area. Water temp 57. Found some crappie shallow, nice size gills shallow. Caught 5 little whites shallow on a slider. Good crappie, caught 7, all keepers. Homemade ice jigs and ice spoons tipped with a piece of live worm. White and black crappie.
  23. Right 😁 or some free toilet paper! I think the starting bid was like $14.00 if I read it correctly. I wonder if they actually get paid or if its all bs bidding 🤔
  24. What! 🙄
