  1. got about 20 painted and ready for clear coating. The experiments continue with top coats, types of paint, and styles of airbrush guns ect. I made a 5' lure turner that can hold up to 15 lures. I hope it doesn't fall apart the first time.
  2. heck I guess that's not so bad, The Rapala painters dont wear any protection, well gloves
  3. my thoughts exactly, probably the same filters on the masks since day 1 too those ladies painting with open goggles with all those airborne particles getting in their eyes was just nuts
  4. thanks for posting the lure making video TFR! wow the amount of paint and clear coat in the air was horrible !!
  5. i'm one of those guys who ground the lip down on a perfect ten. Have not tried the Top 20 rogue yet but have high expectations.
  6. decided today is the last day I use devcon 2 ton syringes. Had new 3 packages of the stuff that had issues with the resin being thicker and cloudier than normal and almost crystalline like. Within a minute or two of mixing the stuff was non brushable. Like a dummy I tried it and it didn't end well. Sent an email to the company to see if there are any recent complaints. I'm getting some more S81. The easiest stuff I've ever used on createx. Just dip and hang. simple
  7. crawdads do walk forward w/ their pincers in the front , but if i wanted to make the bait look like a crawdad fleeing backwards then yes pincers on the bill wouldn't look "right".
  8. thought never crossed my mind, now I wonder
  9. i did a big goof last night with a crankbait, had to wash all the paint off and start over because I had put the scales on backwards on the other side ! break time is very important, i have a stop watch set for 10 minutes work, ten minutes break. I can put in a full day with minimal issues this way. Painted(still need top coat) 28 lures in 2 days doing this with only 3 "bad apples". I know what it's like to go mad while doing this, airbrushing is a fine art and it really does require total concentration. Any way to boost confidence when fishing keeps the attitude positive!
  10. just on the bills/lips I used an ultra violet top coat marker. Took them outside to get some sun and brought them back inside to take a photo of the "purple/bue glow"
  11. agreed, the clear spro are they way to go,
  12. fresh paint w/ UV
  13. son! now those are hawgs! if I wanted to catch a walleye right now I'd for sure have a large purple backed flicker shad, underspin with a disco violet fluke on it and a jerkbait tied on. Early and late. Gravel points in the coves or clay gravel/ chunk rock banks back in the major feeder creeks. The underspin I use it just like a spinnerbait slow rolled at the same depth as the shad with a few pauses during the retrieve to trigger a bite. The crankk and jerkbait just cast it out and use slow a stop and go retrieve, not so much twitching the sticker but just short pulls w/ long pauses or a SLOW steady wind. It seems like I catch more bass when really twitching and jerking the lure but fewer walleye. Be sure to have some chartreuse somewhere on the sticker of choice now. As the water warms after the spawn I like an orange belly on my stick baits.
  14. had to make a crankbait stencil yesterday out of paper and packaging tape because I lost the other one I used a small oval shaped piece with the design drawn on it. I laminated the paper on both sides with a piece of clear packaging tape then used a razor knife to cut out the design. This made a quick,2 sided ,very flexible, easy to clean and position, paint proof stencil that can be used several times.
  15. did you see any crawdads? I've been seeing lots of reddish colored ones on Bull
  16. ty, exactly lol!
  17. just got 100 baits in the mail to paint, I'd better get busy!!

  19. thanks buddy, walking while fishing is about the only way i'll exercise and I get to be outdoors.. Fitness centers just aren't my style. If only the cookie monster in me would calm down some I think the weight would come off a little faster hehe.
  20. Nice catch from the bank Jeff! I've been bank fishing Bull all winter. I've dropped 12 lbs since November from reduced calories and walking. The bite has been hit or miss but I can't lose weight while just sitting in a boat fishin'. Diabetes is knocking on my door and still being 40lbs overweight doesn't help that. There's a place I fish frequently that has a paved circle drive. After I fish a couple 3 hours I make a dozen laps around the circle then head home. I haven't used my boat since October, but that will change very soon.
  21. stuff like this reminds me why I make tackle in the first place! great story ! and a great bait!
  22. I don;' know anything about the guy's at Ulrich just make sure they didn't swap props on you thinking you wouldn't notice, because they know you'll bring it right back to them because suddenly your motor isn;t turning the rmp's it was. They will charge you hundreds$ to try and solve the "problem". Then they'll put the original prop back on after they drained your wallet and now the motor runs great just like it did before. SOME people are straight up assholes. I had a mechanic steal the brand new plugs out of my motor and put old one's back in it . Guess he thought I wouldn't look. He also rigged the wiring hidden with an exposed bare wire that would vibrate against the block and short causing random stalling when I'd hit waves, just saying that motor blew a head gasket soon after. I also had at least 17 gallons of gas siphoned out of one of my tanks while the boat was on his property. Yes, this guy is still in business ...somehow. I worked around some outboard mechanics for the last 15 years and I know several "tricks" that SOME of these people use to make you a repeat customer.... ALWAYS check for swapped parts too. They will pull parts off your motor and replace them with older used crap then sell your's to someone else. hopefully this is not your case but be cautious!
  23. Can honestly say I've never had to "fizz" a bass. I've caught them 65' + and they swim straight back down when released quickly. Putting them in the live well and trying to release them later they would probably have to get fizzed is what I've seen during tournament weigh ins too. Walleye and crappie on the other hand seem to easily get "the bends" especially during Summer. Any suggestions on fizzing them or would that be a bad idea?
  24. nice fish all of them ! that is a fat perch! glad to see they (perch)haven't spawned yet! I don't know why but after the spawn I never catch any the rest of the year, lol.
  25. just ignore this question Mark I already talked to you about it yesterday
