Here I am digging through the OAF archives in search of solution. I think I found one here on this thread but just wanted to clarify. The wire on my 'ducer got chewed up (darn OTTERS!!!!) and was wondering if it could be spliced back together. Splicing transducer wire isn't any different or difficult than splicing the cord on my shop vac is it? Sure could use a good excuse to spend the cash on a new graph but I also want to get to go to Texas next week as well. Decisions Decisions, A little bit of solder and some tape covered in silicone sounds good if it can be done.x Much appreciated for anyone's feedback.

It has always been this way and it is sporatic according to the amount of activity. The server provider/host needs to allot more space for the site. It will continue to get worse as Phil expands and membership activity increases. I have scene this happen proffessionally on numerous occassions. Phil might want to discuss this with the company he has the site powered with. IPS? Power Board? Until then, relax and play some solitaire as you wait for the pages to figure themselves out. No need to buy a new computer

I prefer Basspro.com. They may not have the cheapest available price, but it is a one stop shop and I always find what I am looking for.

I have netted smallie fingerling as well. Plenty of them can be found at the second bend past Bull Island. Anyone can tell you, there are good smallmouth in Bull Creek above F Hwy. Some of those do make it to the lake.

Gramps used to like the shallow water up there under the dam. As a kid, he used to drag me along so I could watch him catch trout with corn and cheese balls. While he caught trout, I jigged the shoreline. I have caught my share of smallies around Fall creek and Cooper creek in the past. It isn't a freaky thing to do so. I do agree with Troy. Not every fish under the dam last year came from the rock. As nasty as things were down here. I thought of moving as well.

Thanks for sharing this Brownieman. I love to look at the historical stuff.

In business, you have to be the first, the best, or the biggest. In public service (which I would like to think OAF is), you have to be intimate, prompt, and basic. People like the feel of grass roots, especially when it comes to their home town lakes and streams. It has to remain like a neighborhood bar where everybody knows your name. (To steal a cliché) If someone is mentioned by name, nobody wants to be forced to search the archives to know who people are talking about. Let’s not forget, it is the internet. The bigger your territory the more cops you will need. Conversations will blur as there will be too many people carrying on and talking all at once. People who have never set foot in the Ozarks will crawl in like posers and begin prowling like predators. Tempers will flare just out of the confusion. Servers will bog down and pages will drag. Spammers will see a larger demographic and begin to breed like body lice. Is Applebees really your neighborhood bar and grill? Are they more special because they cook in your neighborhood? Be careful how you allow the human anthill to approach our little picnic here. There is a reason why I don’t fish on weekends. There is a reason why even the most avid fly fishermen will avoid a trout park on opening day. Other than that, why not?! My two pennies -
He claims to catch walleye everytime he goes and he does when I am with him. You won't catch him on the water if it is below fifty though. And if the wind has the water just a tad choppy, he gives it up. I guess he is getting old.

Can't go wrong with wiggle warts for Pomme bass. Same thing goes for whites. I prefer to troll while at Pomme. Opens up the diversity of species. You can usually pull a few walleye this way.

Let's forget about the fish for a moment. Buy a boat dock with foam and tell me you like otters then. Better yet, leave a twenty thousand dollar pontoon in the water for a winter on the south shore of Lower Taney. They are very destructive and love to steal foam. Whether it be from a dock or the seat cushions from your boat. We won't elaborate on their appetite for plastic insulation around wiring and steering cables. Sometimes I wonder how anything survived those terrorists before I strarted training dogs to keep them at bay.

Ham, Thanks for the feedback on Sam Rayburn. I think you have a point if our windy luck maintains it's trend. Will be more back water on Toledo Bend if it gets bad. Any colors to go with those lure selections?
-
Coyote, The locals around the lake like May for Muskie. I have had my best luck in October though. Although, my two largest (42 inches and 48 inches) were both caught in June. I think a lot of it has to do with rain, water clarity and the location of the thermocline. I find eighty percent of what I catch to be positioned in open water between nine and twelve feet. They are almost always near humps that drop into thirty foot of water (or so). Just my two pennies on what I have experianced. Like I mentioned, I am lucky to get up there maybe three times a year.
-
Ham, We are also entertaining a day or two at Sam Rayburn. Heard any news?

Pomme is my Dad's baby. He lives just a couple miles from the lake. His philosophy is this, 'If it bights my lure then it wasn't an accident.' Deep down though, he is more of a walleye guy who chases whites. I go a few times a year with him and he just fishes to see what happens. I personally target the muskey on purpose but I have a propensity to go after what is going to be the hardest to catch. I dare you to catch a few three foot tigers and say you don't want to seek more. It is quickly addictive and a great thrill.

That would be it Troy. Nasty stuff has the mouth of Bull all clogged up.
-
I would be proud of that one

Grass? Lower Taney? hhhMMMMM Very patchy, not bunches of it here. What little there is doesn't act very well as an attractant. Now the coontail is a different story. I hate the stuff but unfortunately they have taken a foothold in some areas. It is like the nosey neighbor that you wished would just move away but they are always there when you need them. Even if most the time they just get in the way. I personally consider coontail in the Lower as the beergoggle-closingtime-hookup. After all the good spots have turned you down, there is always one place to go poke around to say at least you got one. And I spend alot of time in that coontail. As Troy said though, think small. I would't use any bait over three inches unless it was a slim profile bait like a sinko.

Blog is updated. Keep them coming! If anyone has a different definition for any of the ones listed, we can use them. Same goes for different names for already listed defintions. The Ozarkipedia is getting big. Any editing advice is welcome as well.

Blog has been updated. We have quite a collection started.

Keep them coming guys. I took what we have so far and put it on my blog. I am editing to give it a generic look, hope you like how I did it. Terry, I don't know what happened to that darn word 'mythical'

Here I go again, Fellas. I have decided to compile some of the interesting references we use here on OAF. This ought to be fun for all of us. I want you guys and gals to add your favorites as well. It doesn't have to be strictly fishing related, but the term and its definition has to be known or at least used by more than yourself. I also encourage us to debate the proper use of our submissions. In the case some of you might have different words or definitions. You will be able to watch the Ozarkipedia accumulate its fun terminology on Trav's OAF Blog as together we work to confuse the english dictionary. Once everyone agrees the Glossary is complete, maybe we can convince Phil to place it into the forum as a reference guide for the millions of new OAF members who will join in the future. I haven't really started yet. I feel that OAF members should be in on this from its creation. And, you won't see it on my blog until we have fifty or so established. I did spend a few minutes to jot a few of my own little terms to show everyone an example of what we are aiming for............. OZAKIPEDIA ANTHILL, the human race BABY, human larvae BAIT, any fish under ten inches in length (usually mistaken as a Sport by bass fisherman) BOW, rainbow trout BROWNIE, brown trout BUCKETMOUTH, a fish with a mouth big enough to stick your fist inside CHUCKER, a rod/reel combo used for throwing extra large baits CHUNK, any stout, heavy or fat fish under sixteen inches in length FISHBOWL, a body of water which has populations of fish that are not self sustainable GILL, any member of the sunfish variety HOG, or Hawg, any bass over five pounds KEEPER, a woman worthy of marriage MDC, Missouri Department of Conservation MULLET, rude/discourteous boater OAF, Ozark Anglers Forum PARASITE, watercraft not being used for fishing PENNY, an opinion/idea or unreliable/unverified fact SPORT, bass between ten and sixteen inches in length SPOT, Kentucky spotted bass STICKFISH, anything wooden which is retrieved accidentally SQUID, of the tourist eating variety, mythical creature local fisherman worship As you can see, not everything is about fishing, so feel free to throw in all the pennys you like.
