  1. I havent been able to catch any to confirm that they are gizzard shad, but they are definately in the shad family and in the 2 to 3 pound range.
  2. This is not new. I have had issues like this, mostly concerning equipment, for years. I even caught one guy trying to steal my dog! While she was barking in defense of the property! Nothing is sacred anymore.
  3. I have seen 3 pound gizzard shad pretty regular this year.
  4. Thanks Bman! Im interested in knowing if this guy gets in any trouble!
  5. I have been chuckling at this thread but to be honost. As a dock owner myself I have learned things the hard way. I basically strip my boat down to nothing but wires and lock everything up. Its a pain in the arse but the six signs surrounding my dock saying stay the hell away just doesnt work. I make it as difficult as I can to even board the dock and nail shut and rope off all accesses to the dock. In reality, even with the half dozen padlocks and the deterences, if somebody really wanted to steal or vandalize they are gonna. Nothing can protect your lock boxes from sledge hammers and crowbars. Thats why I carry all my fishing gear to the garage and keep it locked. At least the garage has motion lights and a big red Dog sleeping under the carport. I only keep my boat gear locked up on the dock. Another pain in the arse but it is the world we live in. If I had a big fancy $50k bass boat you can bet your sweet bum that I would keep it in my driveway! Not my dock. As far as shooting someone over gas? I might have fun unloading my AR under thier feet, but I wouldnt kill over gas. Break into my house while I am asleep? Then we are talking dead thief!
  6. Watch this video and tell me that our Rights arent in Danger! http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/12142/
  7. Thanks Drew, but to be honost, these fish are no bigger than 1/3 of a toothpick. When they grow up some I will get better pics for you guys.
  8. Saying you should "slap down a license" to buy ammo is like saying you need to prove your alive to buy food. We have the right to own our AKs and ARs. And it is bad enough that we have to jump the "hoops" that we already do for the guns we have. Maybe we should give out permits to procreate! To me , over population does more harm than any gun owner could ever do.
  9. I just might since there is no law here on lower taney!
  10. Thanks Chief. The pic is a duskystripe. The scupins and brook silverside are in the tank.
  11. I think I have all of you beat with hours on the lake and I dont even pick up a fly rod. And I use 10 pound test for everything. This is silly.
  12. Sounds like you hit pay dirt!
  13. That emergency spillway is only for a potential Dam failure at Beaver.
  14. Gavin I think your right. They probably are scuplins. And the bulk of them are duskystripes. Haha, If anything I just got an eduacation about minnows. Thanks guys.
  15. Pretty hard to cast a fly with my spincasting gear!
  16. Or out of one of the creeks.
  17. hmmmm The silverside brook is probably right on. A cat with no whiskers...hmmmm, it has the rounded tail like a flathead. Flat head and the fins are similar. Your the expert so I believe you. Do Ozark Minnows have forked tails with a dark lateral line? Nothing more I can say about them, they look like minnows!
  18. Well, As an Athiast, I can care less about thier beliefs. They are a threat, and if we could just paint a big line and dare then to cross it, I say lets rumble! As scattered as they may be, we have to kill enough people that when it comes down to it they start purging themselves. If thats the way it has to be then so be it. Have to weed out the bad by killing some of the good!
  19. Crankbaits work very well. I lean towards colors that resemble baitfish more than Craws. Not very many craws in lower Taney. Too much debris for good craw habitat. So its not that "natural" to see them down here.
  20. I have scooped out about thirty of them and put them in a 55 gallon tank. They are mostly an 1/8 of an inch long. So small that they are nothing but specks. I have been able to seperate them into 5 different species. Shapes of tails and placement of fins have three of the species easily spotted. I have determined that most are actually frye, if not all of them. About a week old. Some are easily yellow carp. I have two that seem to be skipjacks. If not skip jacks then they might be Gar. and three that are surprisingly have tails and fins like they are flathead catfish. Just no whiskers or thorns. The two other species seem like minnows but one species that has serious fins that resemble trout perch. I guess as they grow I will figure it out. Will keep you posted.
  21. Im so jealous!
  22. I am not saying that there were not deceptions in our move on Iraq. I am saying we wanted a clear battle ground in wich we can fight over there instead of in a very difficult terrain such as Afghanistan. We needed a foot hold in the Mid east and the whole Saddam factor was a good excuse to set roots in the region. The Bush Admin will be looked at as aggressive and determined but I for one respect that and years from now the history books will say the same. If being a forceful adimate war time legislation after an attack on our own soil is wrong, so be it. At least we can be grateful that we didnt have a passive Clinton admin at the wheel when we needed a can of whoop arse! Gonefishin was absolutley correct when he stated that hitler pulled us out of being an isolationist nation. And it was Japan that lit the fire under the arse of a giant! If the key motivation on picking Iraq as "THE" battle ground was backed by oil then all the better. In time we will be compensated for our costs with Iaqi oil! Its a win-win! Call it a tyranny but I say it is cheaper to take what you need than to pay for it. What is the point of being the most powerful nation on the planet if you cant throw your weight around? I may think like a bully, but I always bring a gun to a knife fight! Work smarter not harder. Sorry Al, With all due respect, I think that our presence alone draws more of them to hit the hard target in Iraq than it does here at home. They are a bunch of organized cowards and fight with cheap shots. And lets not forget what I have said before...In Iraq we are close to Iran if they need a licking. and if we need to spank syria or Saudi we are close and dont need thier oil if we got all we need from Iraq! Its a good thing I wasnt the leader of this nation. I would make sure there is a gun in every house and we would walk all over the world like we were building WalMarts!
  23. Along with numerous parts of docks, I also pulled out a couple items that people might want back. Here is a pic of a couples items. Not shown is a gas can, and two PFDs. If they belong to you, just say something on this thread.
  24. I have a few thousand of these guys under my dock. Just wandered if anybody knows what specie it is? Sorry about the fuzzy pics. My Cam dont like to focus to well on itty bitty things.
  25. How about only "Live" bait. such as minnows and worms.????
