You see! It is all about MONEY!
-
Haha Discord- Lack of agreement or harmony. Give a brother a break Phil! Haha
-
Phil, Maybe I should have looked up the meaning of congruity, I havent been in school for a long time. Not to make excuses but it actually means to discuss between things. Either or my intended meaning is closer to discord or dissonance. Haha And to catch a Brown over 15 pounds.....I havent done that. Maybe because I havent caught a 100,000 of them yet? I do know they exist though. Drew, I couldnt take money just to show you how to wiggle flashy oversized baits unless you caught more than two fish a day. It just wouldnt be right. And "put and Take" was in referance to the rainbows. The Browns are "put and Grow' Thats why your only allowed to keep one a day. And a legal sized Brown can get close to 3 pounds.

My stance exactly Just wiggle a few smallies and walleye in. BUT....Channel cat would be the bomb! As a resident on the lake I can dream. The rest of you dont matter! Haha Hey Phil, I went to Drake U with a philosophy major and a horticulture minor. Other than growing pot and talking dung I didnt utilize much! Haha I can say that I could manage a body of water and its biological entities. Plus I own Ray Scotts Legacy Lakes series. If that counts for anything. If the rest of you agree then we can prove that this lake is in better hands. I for one would screw the whole thing up!

Lower Taney has the suckers and carp stacked up on top of themselves. Look in Bull and the littler inlets seem to hold the most. Come and get them!

That is right on the mark. The whole reason I brought up this debate. It was a bit about what you might like but it was mostly to bring attention to the fact that there is a desire for more species.. And to see if that desire is shared. As well as to discuss wether it can even be feasible. Not to bash trout. I cant emphasize enough that the trout population cant be jeapordized in this process. As hard as it is to catch the Browns that I do catch, I estatically love fishing for them. You cant find a bigger challenge other than maybe musky. It is not easy nor is it fast action. Wich most anglers desire so I happen to relish in the fact I can achieve at it. Of course I have stated that we need a larger population of Brownies over 6 pounds as well. But thats just myself being greedy. For I also know that I will probably be one of the very few to catch them. I have caught probably more Browns over ten pounds out of Taney than anyone I know. I just havnt been able to get past the 15 pound mark yet. And how many can say thier average Brown is 3 to 6 pounds? Heres the catch. I go out looking for one bite. Thats it. And sometimes I dont even get that. Anyway, Phil, Your wrong. It dont take a fishery biologist to determine this debate. It takes a team of them. And wether we like the stocker bow tourist getters, I am not willing to sacrifice a 6 pound Brown to any other species knowing that it is a "put and Grow"! I want a species that will cohabitate with the browns or I want more Browns! I was asked why I dont become a guide for the Browns, just a few months ago. It is obvious that nobody can dig the holes of Taney for them better than me. I just said that I spent almost a decade of my life guiding. Clients have expectations. And when I expect one bite a day and dont get it I can live with it. But if I was getting paid....How do I justify that? I think that the majority of our readers here on OAF under estimate the knowledge of the input that is shared here, and that those of us that know better will kind of dismiss the garb chat. The ones that would be of most appreciated dont even converse due to the adimate congruity displayed between some of us. I for one will bring it under any circumstance.

Hey Corey, Do you know where he moved to? Maybe we can burn a cross in his front yard after we throw a brick in his window, carrying a note that says "we dont like your kind", then we can hang his canoe from the highest tree on his property, after we drag it behind a pickup for 10 miles. Do you think he will listen to that? Haha
-
That just isnt right.

We have a name for the poacher!????

I would love to see more Browns over 6 pounds. The majority that I catch are between 3 and 6 pounds. And I target only Large fish.

Thats because my personal pic is an Al Agnew! Cold beverages? "I love you man!"

When I was a kid, I used to throw rocks at hornet nests.

Haha Funny you mentioned the trespassing discouragement. Most tourists cant read! I do try to make it as inconvenient as possible to board my dock. Those tourists are tenacious though. Did you push any logs out from behind it? I thought we were buds! Help a brother out. I wouldnt come back down to the Lower for a few days. Nothing but mud. Doesnt matter though, last nights rain (My guage said 4 inches this morn) washed out my drive and will probably spend the next few days pushing gravel. Havent seen it this bad since 03. Ho Hum. Life gets tedias. Nice Bow by the way!

Its about feasibility as much as it is money. There are so many trout that there might not be any room for more smallies and walleye. I have always stated that stripers wouldnt mix with the trout. But the cold hard facts still are that even "IF" it was feasible to put in stocker walleye and smallmouth, the MDC is too invested in trout to spend the money on the stocking management. Money does simplify. EVERYTHING!

I know my opinon on this matter is going to be abstracted into disassociated commentary but I feel that there is tech out there that will protect the fishery. The fact that it is expensive to do will be the end of that thought. I guess that things could work if there was faith in the human race to do the right thing. But we all know that not everyone is like myself. Haha, I have the key to our fuel crisis,....A big giant bowl of magic kool aid! And make sure everyone takes a sip!

Good idea Patfish!

Probably no more than the PGA with Tiger.

I use 10 pound test for everything. Just my preferance. Try a 1/2 oz bullet sinker held up about 18 inches above the hook by a split shot. The Marshmallow should be covering the eye of the hook allowing the whole hook to supply your choice of bait. The bullet shape should allow your rig to slide in the debris without hang ups. For the most part. Dont use egg sinkers. They wedge and you will go through alot of tackle.
-
Im assuming you want to bait fish. Nightcrawlers, powerbait, salmon eggs, they all pretty much get the same results. It is nice to try them all though. Try to find some flats in the main river. There is one big one just above Bull Creek and another down near Cedar Point. Just drop an anchor and fish your bait just off the bottom. I wouldnt suggest fishing on the bottom unless your using floating bait to keep your hooks of the bed. Marshmallows do a great job of doing that. Nothing but debris and sticks. Tons of snags!. As long as you keep you bait off the bottom you can avoid that hassle. Hope this helps some. Good luck to you.

My son is trying to drum up some cash from his ride. Wants a truck. I am really not interested in fixing my fastwin. Time to retire her. If you want to take her and fix her up then she is yours for $500. If you can help me find a 35hp, or even a 25 or 30 for a trade I have that 92 Grand Am I will trade. Its alot cleaner than my sons car. Dont forget that I still have the 45 hp merc as well. If it sweetens the deal any, If you wanted to buy both cars I will let you have them both for $2500. Only 3 years between the two so most the parts are interchangable. And both run well. The only diff between the two is the 92 is a four cyl and the 95 is a straight six. I will even toss in the merc for an additional $800. its easy an $1100 value. Pics of all are in this forumn. Just different listings. $3800 for two running cars, an especially maintained 18hp Fastwin, and a running 45hp Merc with cables and oil injecter? Consider that only one of the cars has an issue(broken strut) and the 45 hp outboard just needs a little lower unit maintenance(bushings or seals, so I am told, just leaks in water) and of course the '61 fastwin that you might have a new lower unit for. Either way you look at it, thats a good deal. Of course finding a buyer willing to take them off my hands all at once would be priceless! Haha Keep in mind that I cant let the fastwin go until I find a replacement for her. She still gets me across the lake. I just have to stay close to the dock just in case it finally goes.
