  1. Even if there were additions to the population, It will just be more "put and Grow" species. There is just not enough spawning areas for self sustaining fish. Not even the trout can self sustain and they spawn in cold water. I personally will be fine with more "stocker" species. But in reality, Bull Shoals will get what is stocked every year because there is no way to keep them from diving out of the lake.
  2. I like the evenings because that is when they run water in the summer. The Bass run up into the shoreline making them easier to pick off. They stack up like fence posts and you can just work the shore and get them one by one.
  3. Welcome!
  4. Hey Al! Beautiful place! I can see the inspiration behind alot of your Art. Was wondering if you ever take requests. My Lil Lady collects art of Princess's and an Al Agnew version of the Dove Princess would be a great holiday gift for her. Will you think about it? Anyway, I am so jealous of your Montana property. Have a great summer!
  5. I usually fish from 3 until dusk.
  6. The majority of the Smallies in Taney now tend to stay in the creeks but they are caught lakewide. The Largemouth are self sustained. I believe that as long as there are bluegills to feed on they will live anywhere. But here again, do to the limited space to spawn the population is rather small compared to the size of the lake. Also, the cold water shortens thier growth rate. It could take a Bass six years to reach three pounds. Thats why Largemouths over 5 pounds, although they do exist, they are rare. They tend to die of old age before reaching Trophy size. Thats why catch and release is sooo important on Taney.
  7. If the water is murky, it will kill the top water bite.
  8. Greg, Its because of two factors. Not enough suitable spawning ground, and those pesky stocker rainbows eat up all the eggs. Smallies need gravel to breed, wich most the suitable gravel beds in the lake is above Roark. Up there those stockers swarm like a plague of rats on anything edible. Most of thier spawning takes place on gravel up all the creeks. They all have gravel someplace. Cats Basically have two places to spawn, Bull and Roark. All the other inlets dont get warm enough. Cats need super warmed water,80 degrees or so to have a successful spawn. Its hard to believe that there is so many huge cats in the Red River up north. But obviously they find enough tributaries to make it happen. Finding species that will be self sustaining in Taney has been a dilehma since the construction of Table Rock Dam. A Dilehma that will never be satisfied. Especially now that they have trout to fill the void. It would be nice to have some "Put and Grow" Cats and smallies to go along with the trout. Wouldnt it?
  9. Drew, I wouldnt call it fortunate. I call it fishing 3 to 5 days a week. Spanning over decades. And lets not forget, with alot more skill than luck. I know the lower like its my own living room. Although, since the flood it feels like somebody broke in to my house a rearranged all the furniture. Haha
  10. Fished in the rain today. The runoff made the water pretty murky. Only caught 2 sport bass in 2 hours.
  11. That lake has EVERYTHING!
  12. Thanks Taxi, might do that. Does anyone know of a guy name Joe Farkas. I was told he was pretty good too.
  13. Edgewater is about the caliber as Phils place. Might want to give them a call. And I believe Cedar point isnt too bad either.
  14. Was waiting for Timsfly to comment! Being he is the roaring river expert!
  15. To be honost, it has been a few years since I personally caught any Cats. I hear about them though , so am positive there are a few. But they arent very plentiful. Back in the 80s I used to catch bullhead off my dock like they were bluegills. Not the story any more.
  16. Your graph is picking up the electical disturbance your trolling motor gives. I for one will never mount a graph on my trolling motor, only because the vibration can be disruptive. Relocate the transducer and you will see better results.
  17. Same goes for Taney. The only diff is there are rarely top breaks. When you run into them, follow the catch. You can catch 40 to 60 if you keep up. They move fast!

    Bears

Heavy, Good thing those bears dont wander here in my neck of the woods. My dog will freak! She is fed outside and we let her monitor all animals that enter the property. Not that we have a choice...she is an outdoor dog living in the hills and woods. My nearest niegbor is a half mile away. I think a bear would think twice when a redbone hound is barking and nipping at it. She has no fear! Although it does suck when she kills a skunk. Haha
  19. It is a trout park! Walleye wont work my friend. They can run 60 miles in one day. A trout park would just have them running down stream into Tablerock. Even to have cutthroat would be an issue, just ask Phils response when he suggested that in Taney.
  20. Dano is right. And a 10 plus brownie isnt a once in a lifetime experiance. If that is so...then I have lived almost a dozen lives. Now a 10 plus rainbow will be nice. That will be a once in a lifetime. As far as Carp, I remember as a kid with a can of corn , catching 20 to 40 pounders as easy as catching 6 inch gills. Fun fishing, but my dad used to get mad at me for burning out all his good reels. LOL
  21. Oh the Pomme! I love that lake! My father lives 5 miles from it. I have caught lots of white bass and several big muskie. Even snagged some walleye. My Dad is the master of walleye fishing. He can go there and catch 20 in a single afternoon. I always wiggle wart the lake but my father is a live bait guy mostly or he trolls rapalas. I have caught all my musky on eppingers. My biggest being 42 inches. But there are bunches of them in the 25 to 30 inch class. You cant keep them until they are 36 inches but man they are fun! Look for offshore structure and especially underwater knolls. Where the bottom rises from 20 foot untill it is 6 or 7 foot is the best. I dont usually have alot of luck in the pomme river arm but the other is very fertile.
  22. What about guides on Beaver?..... Who is the best there?
  23. The lil Lady is in the tourism marketing biz and she says there is a mild set back, but her commute home tells her that things are the norm in Branson. Lots of traffic.
  24. Mine says Rockaway Beach Farmers market?
