I have had problem with animals on my dock for decades. Eating boat cushions, digging foam, crapping all over the place, even giving birth and leaving thier young for me to find. The biggest problem is Otters. The mink are pretty weary, but leave some left over lunch on the boat and the coons will rip open your tarp to get it. Here is what I have done in the past. Fencing, trapping, shooting(when in season), and even deficating on the bank to ward them off.HAHA None of it really worked. They are very persistant. Finally I just started training dogs. Am on my 4th dog in 20 years and she is the best yet. She is almost 2 years old and is extremely ruthless to any critter that comes on my property. My 2nd redbone and first female. I also had a treeing walker before the redbones and believe it or not, started with a basset hound. If a dog kills out of season she dont know any better,(trust me, I dont see most of what she gets), so you have year round control, and yes, after awhile the critters get the point and just stay away. Problem solved.

I take it there wasnt a catch and release

I realize the particulars of the wiggle wart,I have my uses as well, but not to the extent that its the best game in town. Fad or not it still amazes me how much it is mentioned in reports. Its almost as repetitive as the "Hiney Wine" commercials on "the Fishing Radio Show". Haha

I usually put in at hooten town but when the water is high enough I like to put in above the finley river. Dont know what water you crossed on 65 but the James dont cross 65.

I have been reading alot of old reports on Tablerock recently and I am wandering why there is so many referencing Wiggle Warts by name? Nine out of ten overwhelmingly pushing Wiggle Warts. I use them too, but I have equal success with cranks from Rebel, Bomber, Heddon, Bagley and Rapala Brands as well. Is everyone sponsored by the product? What gives?

No prob, The thing I noticed around powersite is that if the Bass dont bit near the shore you really have to go deep. The deep diver I was using had a 4 inch lip. Runs about 16 to 20 feet deep.

I am a 6-year veteran of fantasy football, champion of 5 of the 6 years, soon to be 6 out of 7. I read statistics, injury and practice reports, opposing match-ups and volumes of press to achieve success. So a couple years ago I tried fantasy B.A.S.S. I didn’t really do as well as I did at football. In fact I didn’t even finish the season. Bass fishing isn’t a team sport (yet), so building a team seems an oxymoron when in real life most the guys participating wont even tell you what they ate for breakfast the day of a tourney. Nascar isn’t a team sport either but they have them. It’s all a ploy to mainstream an event, so they can broaden a fan base, to collect more revenue from sales of sponsor product. To put it plain and simple. I guess you can turn anything into a fantasy game. Fantasy chess? Fantasy bowling? Fantasy bull riding? Fantasy Dog Shows? I know of most the major anglers because I am an avid follower and reader of tourney publications. Still, even I can only recognize less than 20 percent of the names that drift on and off the tourney trails. I was in half a dozen competitions myself in the mid-90s. I am well aware that the failure rate is higher than starting your own restaurant. To think you can win the moneys of a fantasy-fishing format with knowledge and forethought is in itself a fantasy. You would have to be part of the design to know enough to win by any way other than luck. That’s my view on it anyway. Haha. If you can sell it for a pile of beans I want half. Haha

Like the design.... ever thought getting it in a boony hat, or a safari? My Favorite is a wide brim boony with snaps on each side to hold up the sides of the brim.

Decided to motor down to powersite this morning. Was fishing a suspending stickbait and was catching some sport bass, 4 in total. Switched to a super-diver when I hooked into a really nice brownie. Wieghed 4.11lbs on the digital. That sort of had me wanting more so turned my focus totally into the browns. Didnt catch anymore but did find some interesting rock formations at about 30 feet deep that I didnt know was there. Or at least I think they where rocks, haha, that or about 3 volkwagons. I asked a few ducks to dive down and tell me for sure but they just gave me a funny look. haha

Good luck to ya If we get snow like they say it should be really pretty out.

I want a bumper sticker for my truck,my car, my boat, my dock, my dog, my mailbox....ect ect. HAHA Did you get my address Phil?

Didnt feel like getting out on my boat in the rain so I wimped out and pulled out the fire eggs and marshmallows and fished on the comfort of my dock. Caught 9 stocker size bows while I listened to the Jim Rome show. My dog brought me a freshly killed mink at I sat there. Was nice of her but I wasnt really that hungry...haha

No Problem Wader The temps are pretty consistant year round, much like the upper lake the Dam hinders weather influences. At my dock it pretty much ranges between 48 to 55 in the summer and 42 to 50 in the winter. Thats just down from mile 9. And I am on the current side of the lake. Its always colder when the water is running. Now up in the coves and creeks I have seen it at 70-72 in shallow water but we are talking dog day heat of summer. In the winter the same shallow water is never any colder or warmer than 50 to 60.

Welcome Next time you plan a float trip, try the James River. Tons of smallies. Went back in May and caught over 60 of them between my brother and I. There is a 16 inch minimum/ One fish per day limit so the numbers stay pretty good.
-
I dont mind at all. Today they were on the flats in the mouth of bull creek. Just look for the stumps in the middle ...it gets real shallow there, maybe 2 foot or so at low water. today it was sitting at about 3 or 4. anyway, I was fishing the 6 to 8 foot zone as it tapers towards the lake. When you find them they hit one after the other. today I counted 9 cast and 9 fish when I first found them. They cruise alot so you have to catch them fast before they move on and you have to hunt them again. I try to follow the school with my trolling motor and graph but that only works for a little while. Most the time I find them further down the lake in a cove called "the lost forest". It is located between long beach and powersite dam. But I have caught them as far up as bee creek. They will usually always be found near flats that drop off slowly on the opposite side of the main channel.

Lots of different species here. I was catching largemouths and white bass today. I use jerkbaits, crankbaits, the occassional softbait. Today it was mostly a yellow craw shallow diver.
-
Thought I would freeze my butt off this morning so I over dressed. After stripping down a layer I managed to get a few chunky sport bass. The main channel was really silted; full of floating debris from the rain so I avoided the brownies today. The bass didn’t surprise me much but made up for it in numbers. Caught 16 beating the shoreline and then moved out onto the flats. Fishing 6 to 8 feet of water I bumped into the White Bass. Caught another 23 of those…including one that went 3.2 pounds. She must have been the ring- leader of the pack cause after I let her go the whites went someplace else. By that time I was hungry for lunch anyway and called it a day. Not to mention I forgot to charge my trolling battery and it was running half power…haha.

Hummingbird vs Lowrance...it's like PC vs Mac. Both have advantages and disadvantages but in the end its what your more compatible with. I have been using hummingbird all my life. My brother trys a new thing every couple years. Unlike my brother I prefer to study the fish, not user manuals. I am pretty simple though. All i need is depth, temp, PH, and contour.

Don’t get me wrong, even though I prefer Bass, I still do plenty of Trout fishing. I do after all live on a world class trout lake. The reality of Taneycomo is that at any given time the majority of the trout "that bite" have been stocked within the last year or less. Making them easy to catch and generally under the slot limit. Living on the lower part of the lake, that is where I fish. It is a lot more productive to use spinning tackle that to use a fly rod. Not to mention, I am primarily a trophy hunter seeking mainly big brownies, which tend to be in deep cover and contours of the channel bed. Nine out of ten I have caught between 15 and 25 feet deep. In my quest I still tend to catch more bows than brownies but with the larger tackle I utilize, they are almost always over 15 inches. More than a third are over 20 inches. I do own a fly rod. Haven’t used it since 94, fishing for bonefish in Panama. Before that I used to fish the rockies, the black hills and the smokies from time to time. My most memorable fly fishing trip was a trip to the Wind River in Wyoming. I felt like the last human alive. So secluded. But the fish at those places never compared to the size of fish I could catch right here at home. Another thing, there isn’t a decent place to fly fish in the Ozarks where it doesn’t have the potential and reputation of standing next to 20 other guys while I am doing it. Guess I am kind of selfish or call me anti-social, but I don’t like to share. I like my own unapproachable space. Haha. Some guys like that stuff. More power to you. I fish by two simple rules while on Taneycomo. Never fish above roark and never fish the weekends. Kind of assures that my lure don’t (accidently-on-purpose) hit someone.Haha

I killed more snakes(copperheads) in my yard this last summer than I did the 3 prior summers combined. Also saw a log while floating the James river past horse creek in May that had 8 to 12 cottonmouths on it.

The latest issue of Bass Times had a snippet about Zebra mussells in Taneycomo.

I was burning leaves at the time....thought I was gonna set a forest fire..haha
