I like the flat tax idea as well, Quillback. Has anyone noticed how many times your money is taxed? Your boss has to tax the money he earns, wich came from people who payed taxes on it, who had to pay taxes on that, going back infinitavely. Then your boss has to pay taxes on his earnings and then takes taxes from what he pays you. You pay taxes on that money even more when you have to buy gas, again on food, again when you buy clothes, again when you buy shoes, again when you buy a car, again when you buy a home, again when you buy a boat, again when you buy a truck, and if you want to use the car, truck or boat, you have to pay taxes every year or so on them again. Also, if you want have a warm home with lights and means of communication, you have to pay taxes on gas, electricity and a phone. Plus you have to pay taxes even more if you want Sat/cable TV or internet service. Not to mention, that if you want to keep your home, your paying property tax, school tax, fire tax, and depending if your in town or not, your paying city tax. Then, as if that isn't enough, at the end of the year, you have to add up all your personal property and pay taxes on it all again. Lets not forget, that if your paying alimony, the money you where already taxed on, gets taxed again when your ex-wife gets it. Even the hard earned money you have saved, gets taxed every year again and again and your not even spending it. Nothing is sacred, your paying a tax if you own a horse, a pig, a cow, or even a donkey. And speaking of donkeys, we shouldn't let a donkey tax us more.

I am so sick of this crap. Looks like I will be pushing logs off my dock for the next two weeks!

The lower will be pure mud.

Not during my work outs. The Lil Lady will have me sleeping in the garage. Boxing on a belly full of beans? Dangerous

I was looking for some videos from the cave.

Last winter I reroofed my garage and ripped out a big barrel wood-burner that was taking up too much room. I am looking for something maybe half that size to keep my garage warm for this winter. I would like to just set it in a corner and vent it out the side of the building. Nothing new. Just small and simple. Maybe something to keep the coffee warm while I am working out, and raise the temp a few degrees. After I took out the big barrel burner, I felt like Rocky in the meat packing plant as I was working on my heavy bag. BRRR. If anyone has something similar just lying around, I would gladly take it off your hands. Could even trade ya some firewood for it. Thanx, Trav

My place is crawling with those pesky critters. I find deet to work well. It does give you an scent though. Using extra skunk musk to mask the smell could work. It also helps to pick a location way off the ground. It helps to air the scent of the deet above the animals range as well as keeps your exposure to the bugs to a limit.

Wasn't Nafta a Clinton deal?

Robert Kennedy was relentless in his pursuit of Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa, resulting from widespread knowledge of Hoffa's corruption in financial and electoral actions, both personally and organizationally. The enmity between the two men was something of a cause célèbre during the period, with accusations of personal vendetta being exchanged between Kennedy and Hoffa. Hoffa was eventually to face open, televised hearings before the Attorney General, which became iconic moments in Kennedy's political career and which gained him equal praise and criticism from the press. -Wikipedia Jim I stand corrected on that detail. It still doesn't change the fact that the ripple effect was enormous to unions. By the way, My Gramps retired from AWG. He collected his pension until the day he died. He also swore until the day he died, that it was JFK's bleeding heart beliefs that got him killed. Of course we better stay away from that conspiracy. I tend to have a different reason on that myself altogether, but I do think it was because of his being a powerful Democrat.

I have never met a Democratic Politician that I liked or respected. Teddy Roosevelt was a republican that did huge amounts for the sporting preservations of our nation and history says he wasn't all that well liked at the time. Trust me, History will prove GW was a man of action and integrity, while old Bill's only action to bonify a legacy was with Monica. We can all talk in circles here, respect is in a man's actions. Bill knew Bin Laden was out to get us. Remember the USS Cole? But he didnt do a thing to retaliate for that injustice. I suspect, Nobama would rather tuck his tail and run other than to stand up to the job that has to be done. Try bombing American soil with John and Sarah at the helm!

Everytime a Democratic polition decides to make an achievement, our society takes a hit. FDR, what a peice of work he was. His policies destroyed the American family with all his hand outs. No longer do you see familys work together. Cause of Social Security and welfare{Wich was supposed to temporary}, We have abandoned the multi-generational househould. The kennedy's destroyed the unions opening the door to out sourcing. Giving our jobs away. Then LBJ who tried to fight a billion china men with 100 thousand troops. The list goes on and on. Let's see...any Democrats on Mt Rushmore? Nope, a Federalist and 3{Count them 1-2-3} Republicans. Wich Prez was voted the greatest president of all time? Ronald Reagan. Republican! I happen to live in a house with 4 generations, no Democrats here. Just call me grandpa Walton! By the way, have any of you scene those Baldwin sisters anywhere? I could use a little of the "Recipe!"

darn! It said Zig Zag on the title. Was kind of expecting something a little different.

Anyone for a Katrina family reunioin at the superdome?

It's not wether there qualified so much as who they surround themselves with. An executive is only as good as those he appoints under him. Just for the record, I will take a mediocre republican over a good democrat anyday. And I don't think John or Sarah are mediocre. I think we have a couple strong leaders with them. I also believe they will be sure to have a much better cabinet to serve the American people than what Nobama's "strokers" can bring to the table. Nobama is all about popularity where as John is about honost bipartisanship to actually get things done.

people are tired of hillary. If it wasn't for the fact she is a woman, she would have been dismissed. Oneshot, My sentiments exactly buddy. I said I was going to keep my mouth shut about religion and politics, but this is to good to be not true! This lady is all that and a bottle of powerbait! Speaking of which, I am running low, I am addicticted to the stuff. I am up to 5 bottles a day. The habit is getting as expensive as the price of gas!
-
I am very excited about it as well. McCain has said he is only running for one term. I think we are looking at the first woman Prez!

Who do I talk to about filing bankrupcy on all this stuff?

Went above Bull Creek to find some clear water. It is alot better from Twin Islands to the mouth of Bee Creek. Starting at Bee, I basically just speed fished the whole shoreline to the Twin Islands with a crankbait and a spinnerbait. All that shoreline and only managed to pick up four sport bass. Granted, I was using some pretty big baits and the fish I did catch were real chunks. I must have witnessed over a thousand rainbow trout surface between those two points, spread out over maybe three hours. Most were in the six to eight inch range. What gives? I thought they quit taking those teeny ones from Neosho? Obviuosly not. Anyway, the water was glass, and watching all those fish feed was enjoyable.

You might see me down there pushing logs this weekend. That tends to be a never ending chore this year.
-
Only fished two hours today. I basically looked for the shallow water bite so I hopped inlets for the most part. I caught six sport bass. All out of water less than twelve inches deep. The water still has that cloudy look. I will be glad when it gets back to normal. Anyway, Nothing worth bragging about but relaxing all the same. I do have a funny story though. I was twitching a rapala on the surface near an over hanging tree. Minding my own business when bam, out of nowhere a blue heron swoops down and picks up my lure. Lucky the hooks didn.t set and it dropped my lure. I have eaten some crow in my day, but never blue heron.

Darn it!

I agree with Phil. This is a fishing site and politics and religion don't belong. We as a society are proned to disagree and that agreement isn't always implied. Let it be known, I am guilty of throwing such discussions out here that touch buttons that primarily should be discussed on different forums. I also enjoy the debate and really enjoy ruffling feathers. For that I apologize to Phil. I know he really don't mind my antics but when it starts to personally effect others he has no choice but to act for the good of the site. It really don't belong here. That I know. I also know I have a little bit of a following that likes my candor and retort. As long as it is fishing related, You will continue to see that. Just no more talk outside of fishing. There are a million other sites to vent about religion and politics. All this chatter does nothing but divert the entire agenda of the site. Wich is fishing! Out of respect, since this is not my own personal dumping ground of social resentment, I have to submit. We all should find other sites to talk about this other stuff. I am a member of the Glen Beck Club. Not a bad place to start looking for the other sites. I am going to make a deliberate intention to focus on the topic of fishing. Biting my tongue won't be easy, but when people are saying they don't like participating on this site due to the fact we bash on each other, we have a problem. I will say, that on my own defense, that there are plenty of non fishing forums on this site. Including prayer and there are plenty of threads related to religion. I have always steered clear of those out of respect. I understand my beliefs differ so whats the point. Bottom line...I am tired of saying I am sorry for what I believe. As long as it is just fishing we are talking about, I know I have the upper hand. My advice to everyone else is...don't push my buttons and I won't push yours. Phil asked me if I wanted any freinds here. I didnt answer, but the truth? Either you respect me or not. I don't care. He also said I didnt offend him. Tells me he is still my friend. I know one thing. This is his site. We all have to respect that. Trav has to help him keep it clean.

Can I just collect all your money now? Or are you gonna just ban me?
