  2. I actually prefer mono. Something about the stretch. I work alot of knarly cover and a line that stretches a little has saved me alot of lures and fish that twist you into branches. Floro doesnt have any play in it. I guess it is just what your used to mostly.

I agree. The King arm of the Rock is the bomb for me. Sorry fellas, I am all Hawkeyes here. Cyclones follow with a close second.
  4. Welcome!
  5. I bought a new boat you all! Sitting in my driveway. Give me a week or so and you will be talking trash on the Lower Taney format!
  6. Chief, I don't think I will make no where near 2000 hours this year. I have been out of action with a broken boat for the better part of the summer.

  8. Haha, Phil, I totally agree. I love those farm fresh bows! I kill fish, but only if I am going to eat them the day I catch them. I am totally against freezing fish. I grew up in a family that hunted and fished to kill and freeze everything just to eat ribeye steaks. It never made sense to me. I don't eat bass for I dont find them all that tasty. I don't eat brownies because the majority that I catch are too big to taste good. I have a bad habit of clipping fins off big brownies so I will know if I have caught them before. Over the past nine years I have a recording of catching the same ones at least 40 percent of the time. They fall for the same dumb tricks everytime. I love that ! Why kill them when they are so fun and predictable? That is a testiment to the benifits to catch and release! So, I guess I have have to disagree on you with that little opinion also Phil. They do bite over and over again. Just like Bass. Also, the subject of Catch and Release "is" a dead horse subject. If your a true catch and release guy, in my opinion, your more dedicated than me. I love to eat those farm raised retarded rainbows. Retarded meat is the best meat. Catchem and eatem! Haha! If the fishery was a native raised and natural spawning population, I would definately change my opinion. But as long as they keep giving me free food by stocking hundreds of thousands rainbows a year, I will eat for free! I do give the little bugers a living chance by eating all the power bait myself. I like a challenge, I get them on bare hooks and split shots. The retarded bows can't stay away from a bare hook. Haha
  9. This is my opinion on the subject of catch and release.
  10. Historically, these draw downs have forced all the warm water species that have migrated upstream, back down into the Lower. You will find the crappie and white bass fishing to be exceptionally good down here during that time period. When they bring the water back up, you will be able to catch warm water species on pretty much anything, for the fresh water will turn them into a frenzy as they feed thier way back to thier preferred area of the lake. There is always a silver lining.

  13. bc Go catch a bunch of big flatheads and nail the heads on the fence posts. If you cant catch that many cats, you can use road kill or dead carp. The rotten stenche will attract lots of those blue flies. Them flies bite like crazy. The deer will steer clear of the fence. And if your hiding out near by in a deer stand, they will smell you out and try to eat you too. All that rotting flesh will also attract crows and buzzards. We all know that deer use those birds to alert them. If the birds freak out and fly away from a hunter, the deer will run too.
  14. That is very unfortunate. My nieghbors and I have thrived on being there for each other, and respecting each others property lines. I recently had a problem concerning my dog. We all used to let our pets run around together. They all got along for the most part. That was until my dog killed a couple of kittens my nieghbor had recently got for his wife. Sad but true, but good fences make great neighbors. My dog is now contained to my little four acre property by an invisible fence when not under direct supervision. She hits the fence, and Wham! She gets bit by a tazer strapped to her neck. It has worked like a charm. My neighbor liked the system I had installed and even set his property up with an invisible fence to contain his dog as well. Since the killing of the cats, I have been giving my neighbor tons of produce out of my garden. Kind of a peace offering. Sometimes, you just never know when you might need help from a neighbor. So, it is important to establish that respect. Sorry to hear JD, that your neighbors buried that respect. My advice to you. Get A Lawyer. Sue thier arses!

  17. Welcome!
  18. I am getting a new boat next week. I sure could use a couple bumper stickers for it!
  19. Make it at Rockaway and I will cross the lake to attend.
  20. Welcome!
  21. If the corp guys do cut down the dead trees, you will see alot more scrub brush and grass along the shoreline due to the extra sun light. Will introduce a new way to fish the lake. Unfortunely, it will also increase the growth of algae and make the lake more vulnerable to exotic plants. With Table Rock being so deep, I think we should be safe from widespread trouble. Anyway you look at it, I think it will open more opportunity than not. Will be interesting to see what the future has in store. That's for sure. The brush beater fisheman will definately be scratching thier heads. Haha
  22. Look me up when you get home. I would love to hear some tales first hand. I am so Jealous!
  23. The fishing is always better on the Lower when the water is running. Don't knock those generators to much.
  24. Big Red, Looking at the scenery behind your daughter, I think I know your new secret spot. Don't worry. I can keep a secret though. Yummy looking farm raised trout by the way.
  25. As phil says. There are people here that may not know that I am a big mouthed arrant arse. Haha. I apologize to those that feel sensitive to my conduct. Phil also says this is a place where I can debate my opinion over and over again. Haha No offense Phil, but dead horses always comes to my head when this subject is brought up. I would rather keep eating all these bottles of powerbait than to read the discussion of Catch and Release. Haha After all, most the commentary is focused on trout lately. In my opinion, Trout are easily replaced.
