  1. Not really wishy washy....its all about money.
  2. Dad sells show birds at bolivar. I have a fully equipped chicken house myself. Just dont really like chickens. Thought of maybe peacocks but pheasant will be soooo much better.
  3. Good Read! All those pics of bluegill have me itching to catch a few dozen!
  4. The Lil Lady might have something to say about that! Haha
  5. Dad is a bird guy. He has a room full of ribbons and trophys from his show birds. He was told he couldnt even raise pheasant in captivity.
  6. Haha I rarely get on the water before 1pm. Anyway, yesterday I hit the lake around 4pm and fished until dusk. I was using a 3 inch floating rapala. just twitching it on the surface. Its kind of like worm fishing. Slow and methodical. I actually hate slow and methodical, but when the fishing gets tough you have to adapt. I prefer to run and gun, burn and churn style of fishing. I hate to coax a bite. If you want to catch fish you do pretty much anything though. I also found that with the water running the bass have been crawling under over hanging trees. The majority of my bites came from skipping the lure under a limb that was hovering about 2 feet above the water. Sounds simple huh?....haha....I spent just as much time digging my lure out of the brush as I did fishing. But that is where they were and I for one will get out and walk in knee deep mud if it will get me fish. Good luck this week end.
  7. Congrats Phil
  8. Dont you need a permit to stock birds? I am strictly a bird hunter these days and grew up chasing Iowa Pheasant. When my dad wanted to put a couple dozen on his property in Urbana he was told no.
  9. Haha I basically put that referance there for Phils personal perspective. Maybe I should take it as a compliment that he kept it on the map!
  10. It is relitively short before you get to the creek itself. Maybe a mile and a half. Not sure if it really needs a forumn. Maybe for the floaters from like f highway on up, but it really isnt floatable most years.
  11. Today had the potential to being the best top water day I have ever had on the Lower. A bit disappointing but I had a decent day none the less. I had close to 30 fish swirl, nip, or slap my bait. It was like they couldnt commit to the bite. And I persisted them with several casts each. I did manage to boat 8 sports and two goggle eye. I did see the majority of my harassers and not a one was over 2 pounds so I dont really have that feeling that a biggun got away. They were conservitive to say the least today, but at least they showed thier face.
  12. Hey Hunter, Think we are catching the same 6 fish over and over?Haha
  13. While your at it, get a quick sonar done on the lake and put in bottom contours. Haha I talked to 3 different goverment entities an 2 private mapping firms. Will only cost about 200 Grand. But you could trademark it and sell it to tourists for 20 bucks a pop. Haha
  14. Powersite Cove is that first little inlet that (more of a niche) on the south side of the lake between the dam and grandpaps cove. The cove that is labeled powersite is referred to as empire cove to most but I have heard it called ozark cove as well. Finding names for locations on Lower Taney is difficult to the least. Mainly because there are so many different ones. Fisherman call them one thing, duck hunters call them another, local land owners call them yet another. So you kind of have to go with the populas and label them accordingly I guess. Phil, I cant believe you put my dock location on that! Haha, I mainly put it on the map I gave to you for your own referance. Thats OK though. Its not that its a big secret or anything. The map looks good. If only you could make it a little bigger to make the fine print more legible. I had that prob as well. Couldnt figure out how.
  15. Sad thing is, most are running around with thier heads cut off. They zig zag all over the lake because they DONT have a fishing spot. If they would just settle down and fish for awhile, they might catch more fish!
  16. Black panthers may be rare in these parts, nowadays, but I have seen one. I was coon hunting back when I was 12 years old. The dogs pinned one on a cliff ledge. Probably a mile from my house. We called the dogs off and let it go. So, they at least existed in the early 80s. And , being the resident Athiast on this forumn, I will say, I find it hard to believe in anything I cant see or touch.
  17. Haha Now I dont feel so bad! I just want to be left alone and not be used as a fish locator!
  18. My kids were vitually burned out with fishing. They are 16 and 18 and love it, but they have been fishing so many times with me it is like eating dinner. They would rather hang with thier friends. Might be a side effect of growing up on the lake though. You tell me......
  19. Haha Do we believe in the boogey man? I have heard sounds myself. Coyotes, wolves, lots of birds, animals fighting amongst themselves, mountain lions, Bears breaking into my camper, Packs of stray dogs chasing dinner, fox on a trail, rats in the chicken feed, rattlers under the porch, possums in my garbage, coons scratching after the peanut butter sandwich I left in my tackle box, bobcats climbing trees, squirrels barking at my dog, cars driving on private property, tourists on my dock, deer rutting my dogwoods, otters eating the foam from under my dock, ducks chasing off the geese, neighbors crowding my seclusion, the drunks at closing time at local rockaway beach bars, the cops that bust them, the bugs at my porch light, and lets not forget ........ my coonhound going ape over every one of those sounds.
  20. BC On second thought, Just spent an hour reading about Jets and dont think they will meet my requirements on this lake. There are too many times I am sitting in 2 feet of water and need to bug out of the mud or the coontails. Dont think a jet is an appropriate option for me. If you can find a 35hp with a prop let me know. Much obliged anyway. Thanx for thinking of me.
  21. Cool beans. Posting pics is a breeze. Alot of it has to do with your internet connection and upload time. The rest is a sinch. Just keep your upload size under 600 pixels and/or 2MB and it should be easy.
  22. Today was the perfect example of why I dont fish above Roark Creek. The problem is.....I was 6 miles down river from Roark! Sooo much traffic, and the KampKids tubing wasnt half the wake. Let me ask a question or two....When did "Big M" translate into "Come Fish Next To Me!"? Or when did it start to mean "Swamp This Boat!"? The inconsideration of some of those fisherman out there are precisely why I dont fish the weekends. BUT WAIT! Its TUESDAY! If your not coming over to say hello, I DONT WANT YOU NEAR ME!!!!! OK, Now that I got that off my chest.... Despite it all, I did manage to pick up a mixed bag. Two whites, Two crappie, and Two LM. Funny how that worked out since I only fish Two hours before I had enough of the traffic and just called it.
  23. Welcome!
  24. On Table Rock there are tons of gravel beds to spawn on. Table Rock also isnt swarming with stocker rainbows. A little hard to protect a bed against a plague. I should have been more specific. Sorry.
