I wasnt speaking to/of any Higher Power. In an ecosystem there is a circle or a food chain so to speak and the humans are definatley out of the loop. No stretch there. The human race is nothing but an unchecked over population. No different than a plague.

I use 10# in all conditions. Just me.

No matter what a person may believe. It is without question that the human specie is invasive and destructive and has no real place in this ecosystem. The only good it has for its enviren, the potential to recognize its harm, is a moot offering. There just isnt any stopping the Anthill. Thats the reality of it all and no Faith can change that.

Well, My Lisc grants me the opportunity to guide vessels through every canal and lock in the world. (within the restrictions that I am qualified for) As well as charter frieght under any US Flagged ship. I can even perform nuptuals legally while at sea. I was under the impression it was a respected and honored verification. I have Captained vessels through the Panama Canal and chartered boats out of Honduras using my Naval Lisc. It has no requalification status and I have had confirmation from USCG officials that is very much valid within the coastal US. Not that it matters much to me, for I have no use for the credentials anymore. My only confusion is why would one choose a document that you would have to consistantly requalify for through the USCG when you can get what I have through the US Navy and be granted a lifetime document. Unless the two represent seperate purposes. That is the issue I am referring to. Isnt a Captains Lisc a Captains Lisc? Or are there different capacities? I have been told that my document is a well coveted Lisc amongst sea fairing gents.

Humans are by no means a chosen species of any higher power. We are nothing but an infestation. Evolution is just a means for the anthill to justify its being.
-
I fished Fork a year ago. It is a must destination if your an avid Bass Man.
-
I got my Captains Lisc in 1991 through Rodman Naval Base in Panama. It states date of issue, License #, and on the back it lists all the vessel types I am qualified to Captain. No Place on it does it have an expiration date. Are we talking about the same type of Lisc? Mine was issued by the Navy. It was required so that I may Navigate within the Canal Zone. I was told it was valid worldwide and that it was a lifetime Lisc. What is it yours required for? I have a cousin that is in the USCG as a vessel inspector on the Mississippi and he said that my Lisc is more indepth than a CG issue because all I need is to be aboard an American flagged vessel(and hold a US Passport) and I can charter internationally. The fact is, I dont recall the testing being that intense. A six week course with a written and vessel qualification(sailing) and I had it minus the 120 bucks for the lot. Of course that was 1991. Is a Navy Issue Lisc that much different than a USCG? I guess the expiration aspect has me confused.

As an owner of a dock on lower taney, I dont think I would want to see the water much higher than it was last week. Another 3 feet and I very likely would see some serious damage since my dock sits right in the channel. I am aware of the risks to owning structures on the water, guess thats why I never miss an insurance payment. I hope everyone else made the same steps as I and make sure your well covered for all acts off nature. Makes it alot easier to replace.

I stand corrected. Thanx Webster, glad you care....I might mispell again in the future. Good to know your out there.
-
Yep! That will be him. That was in fact his only #1 finish until now.
-
As an Atheist I say, "who cares again?"
-
Did I say sing? That might be speaking nice about it. Haha
-
Doug I think you will find a few threads here on OAF about this subject. Be sure to find some of those. They will be good reads.
-
Went out to fish the front. Went by fast but what a difference. I am ready for 90 degree weather! Caught 3 whites before the wind and drissles hit. I was cranking a guppy.
-
I stay in the channel at all times. Location isnt as important as finding cover and current breaks. The only cranks I use for brownies are Rat Traps. Thats because they can be vertical jigged. I prefer using jigging type lures like lil georges and hornets tipped with 3 to 5 inch plastics. I have even used 5' swim baits with 3/4 oz leadheads as well as spinner baits with single blades. It is just like split-shotting for bass. Just use heavy lures instead of sinkers and tip your line with sluggos or swimtails to design a multiple presentation. Some of my combos can get pretty ugly. Just dont be afraid to experiment and be sure to fit in a little blue somewhere in your presentation. I have to be honost though, Since we have had the flood gates open, I have yet to see the brownies migrate too much to the lower lake but that doesnt mean that they arent there. In my article on Generation I failed to consider these situations and being it has been 40 years since we have seen these conditions ,even I havent had the first hand knowledge as to how to handle it all. The water is moving too fast to properly pinpoint cover and being its so difficult to work the deep cover I have been mostly working shallow water for Bass instead. One thing I have noticed in these flood stage currents is that the rainbows are really working the mouths of creeks and I have pulled some out of shoreline situations as well. So there is always that option. The Trout are obviously thriving in this current. Makes me wonder something...What if this all would have happened in September when the water over the Dam is running above 65 degrees? How would the trout fair then? The implications are indeed a conversation seperate of this topic altogether though. It does make me think....
-
In effect, it is a "fleecing" of tax dollars, but if under non-flood situations there was a failure in Beaver Dam, it will serve as insurance for Table Rock Dams integrity. I am not saying I understand the philosophy behind its practicality for Table Rock can release enough water to put the Landing under 3 feet of water but IF there was a massive failure to Beaver the AUX will release a hypothetical water surge that might compromise Table Rock. Im with you Wayne, it all does sound like building a Baseball Feild for Ghosts.
-
I have heard rumors that it might be September before it gets back to normal stages. Especially for BullShoals.
-
I was understanding that the AUX Spillway is for catastophic Dam failures only. ?
-
Thanks Don Am going to be at Campell Point for the whole week between the 5th and the 9th. This is an annual outing I try to take just to get off Taney during the spring. Sounds like it could be bust or boom..

If you read some of my old reports you might have a good clue on how I prefer to fish. I prefer 10# though, and for the Brownies I rarely fish any shallower than 20 feet. I prefer 30+. As far as the Bass, Pretty much all the same techniques used in other area lakes work well. The main difference is you have to fish according to the water generation. I also have a small report on water generation and the effects to fishing as well. You might find it a good read. Good luck
