In Panama, the outfit I worked for had Boston Whalers that resembled what you are describing. They work very well in the sense that they are very diverse in thier capabilities. The downside to them is that they tend to be very rough when in open water at high speeds while there is bad weather. Especially in wind that creates swells. Hard to control but still durable.
Also, while in Mexico in '06, the outfit there had the same boats and the wind made them very uncomfortable to fish out of. Not to mention a very tender tush when we were crossing open water.
Although, On Taney they would be perfect. A bit pricey and the platform option might be an overkill for fishing Taney's current and boating conjestion, you want to be closer to your navigation controls most the time.
I personally like Lunds. Only because you can take them anywhere and in any conditions.
I might add, since your putting a few dollars into your rigs, I might advise that even the most simplest sonar equipment will give your rental boats a bit of an edge. I know that down here on the Lower Taney, without a depth graph your in for a long day.
If I am correct, I dont think that there is very many rental outfits that provide a boat with a graph.
Just my 2.5 cents.
My rig is a poor mans 16 foot seaking with a '61 evinrude. Home-made casting deck and all.
