  1. Near KC, Ozark Thunder Marine 5 Fire Station Rd, Kimberling City, Missouri 417-739-1452 Near Bridgeport, One Stop 417-538-4300
  2. Call Humminbird and they will give you (free) a couple of chocks to put on your line to the trolling motor. It looks like a donut and you wrap the electrical line thru it and around it a few times. Bobby
  3. so where can you get those jig heads? Bobby
  4. Bill, Thanks for the report. Question - At what depth were you drifting the fly? I'm guessing you were using spinning gear with the weight bouncing off or near the bottom with the fly following behind. Correct? Thanks, Bobby
  5. Champ - Yes thanks for the tip on pasting the quote. As you can see I have lots to learn.
  6. I was out yesterday afternoon for about 2 hours until sunset around the Indian Point area. I have a slip at the complete north end of N. Indian so it's easy for me to get out for a bit. Not too bad because the wind was minimal. The shad that were everywhere at 20 - 40 ft for the last two weeks have dispersed. Found some shad and fish at 80 ft. off a couple secondary points but could not catch anything trying drop shot worm and spoon.
  7. Thanks guys - think I'll give it a try and will report back. Bill B., from what I've read on this forum, I'm thinking you don't have anything to learn about bass fishing TR, but rather lots to teach others.
  8. As I have said in previous post, I recently retired and kinda new to TR. I've been told that there is a Winter Bass Fishing course to start soon at the Reed Springs Tech. Center(name ?). Any thoughts on this? Has anyone taken it? Thanks Bobby
  9. I found that I can throw it using an old Daiwa Millionaire (cica 1970s) baitcaster on a Fenwick 7 1/2 ft. flippin rod. (This tells you how old I am.) The rod has a long handle for holding on with two hands. The reel seems to be built to take the load. The lack of the modern fancy braking systems are not a problem as long as you hit the thumb brake hard as the thing hits the water. The bait is so big and heavy and seems to move through the air in slow motion. Bobby
  10. I'm in - particularly since I can't seem to catch fish any other way. Did catch one on a Ned though last night.
  11. Got out for a couple hours this afternoon. Very nice day. Didn't see another boat. Water temperature 49 -50 degrees - water very clear, slight green. Tried spinnerbait to the bank but difficult getting close enough. Found fish in about 45 ft in the creek bed in N. Indian. Used the drop shot. Bobby
  12. Thanks to all with your suggestions and comments. Bobby
  13. The wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas and since new boat electronics are not likely, I thought I would ask for some new baits. As I indicated in previous post I am new to TR (recently retired) and fish the KC to darn area mostly. So the question is – I need a list of lures (hard baits and spinners, etc.) that she can get online (Tacklewarehouse or BP). If possible please be specific regarding color, weight, size, blade color and size, etc. Your help would be appreciated.
  14. You may want to consider the future capability (linking two units together, linking the trolling motor, I Pilot link, etc.) of what you buy and the length of time each unit will be supported by the manufacturer. I have a 997 SI and a 777 linked together to share waypoints and the 777 uses the universal sonar in the MinnKota Powerdrive. I like the setup but while looking for a bigger screen to replace the 777, I found out that these units will not be supported (repaired) after 2016.
  15. Thanks RPS
  16. As indicated in recent post, I’m just retired. Although I’ve been doing OK on the bass (mostly smallmouth) in the Indian Point area (thanks in part to info I get from OAF), I’m interested in deep trolling. I’ve tried dipsy divers but am unsure about the depth they are taking my cranks and the consistency. So I’m interested in a downrigger and have one question – What is the maximum normal depth one might expect to see fish on TR? Any help is appreciated. Thanks Bobby
  17. As I indicated above I am just retired and not being familiar with this part of the lake I drove up that way today. The truck in the attached pic (driven by a 30 something young lady) was in a 30 minute standoff with another vehicle (driven by an elderly lady). Neither would backup. The elderly lady said she lived there so she did not have to yield. Eventually the younger lady backed up and rather than going forward across the bridge in the direction of her travel, she sped after the elderly lady. As she passed I was close enough to make eye contact. Hope we don't read about an elderly lady getting beat up. Remember us old folks screw up some times. RPS - Thanks for the answers to my questions above and Yes Beaver campground is mostly flooded. One more question - Can you get a boat under or around that railroad bridge?
  18. Really cool - tomorrow is my last day of work - retiring and moving to the lake house I built about 7 years ago outside of Branson West. I've never been down this way. Two questions: 1) Is there a public ramp at Beaver town? 2) Is the White Rivers Border Lakes permit (bought in Mo) good in Arkansas up to the Beaver darn? 3) How about the Mo. trout stamp? Thanks Bobby
  19. When I got my first boat some 30 plus years ago, my wife was trying to back the trailer in at a public ramp on Pomme on a very hot Sunday afternoon. There was about 10 boats waiting in the water to be pulled out together with 10 cars and trailers waiting in line. She was having trouble and was all over the two lane ramp. After a minute or so, one of the guys waiting in line got out of his car and came up to her and asked her to get out of the car. He got in to the car and backed the trailer in. I drove the boat on trailer and he pulled it up. We laughed a bit, made some smart remarks about women drivers (I don't do that anymore), and I thanked him. Things have really changed. People are so up tight.
  20. Wow - so the unit was still under warrenty????????
  21. I have a 3 bank battery charger. The charger instructions are to leave it plugged in 24/7 as the charger is suppose to charge only the batteries that need it and then switch to a trickle charge. My boat is in a slip year around and I too am concerned with the fire hazard. I have installed a 7 day timer which turns the charger on automatically a couple times per week for 2 hours as a compromise regarding the manufacturers instructions.
  22. Thanks, sometimes the Blunks ramp and parking area really gets busy and the current at the ramp can be swift. Thought the Galena ramp might be better but just put a new 20 hp Merc on the boat and not too interested in ruining the prop in the first month.
  23. Can a person launch a flat bottom John boat (16 ft but floats in a just a few inches of water) at the ramp at Galena and motor down to Blunks and to the Shoals? Thanks Bobby
  24. Anybody been up the James or Flat recently. is there lots of floating debris? Thanks Bobby
  25. Thank you
