Well the bass trip was a very successful one. Wet but successful. We fish 6 to 3 each day. Had topwater bites some, not perfect. Largest on Top water, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdayi was just 1 a little over 4lbs.  More shorts than keeper though. Sunday Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday was good for a lot of Bass on plastics and Jigs. Just a few keepers on a crankbait,  Overall very nice trip, caught from 20 to 30 fish a day. Largest fish was a 6.23lb bass. Best 6 fish was on Tuesday with around 20lbs.

    Goodness it was hot !
I brought home 3 walleye in the 17 inch range. The first came out of 31ft at 9 am on my 3rd cast. I thought this is going to be a good day. Well there was only 2 hours between walleye, I did throw a short one back. Only 4 for the day and a drum.
I was using a 1/2 Binks emerald shiner. My new favorite color.

A buddy and I spent three and a half days on Stockton this week and had a blast!  We did not make it down in 2020 due to Covid. Due to work and calenders we came down a couple weeks later than normal. We drove down and got on the water Monday at 8. We started out trolling Flicker shad, jointed Flicker shad, and 200 and 300 series Bandits. We started on a couple of the spots that have been productive and didn't even get bit. We went into a different cove and caught a 15.5 walleye on a secondary point. We were on the board! Once again spots that produced on previous weren't doing it. We finally caught a nice crappie in 25 feet of water over a brushpile. We found a few more brushpiles in the fromt third of same cove in 25 -30 feet with fish suspended over them and managed 5 more keeper crappie including one over 12 and one over 13 inches. We pulled the boat out about 12:30, cleaned fish and checked into the Owl Haven. It is under new management by the way and they are working on it - Van and Brenda are super nice. We really like having a full fridge and stove and cooking. We unloaded our gear, sat in the A/C and ate lunch, and then went back out about 4:30 and trolled until 7:30 when we ran out of battery. We caught another  15.5 inch walleye on a secondary point. We caught one more keeper crappie along with a few other fish. We went to troll the dam and on the east end there were 3 loons. Hearing them calling was cool!  Tuesday morning we went out with Ed Callaway aka LMT-OUT guide service (660-890-5262).  He told us it was a tough bite as the fish were still in transition and weren't really in a summer pattern yet. I would highly recommend any one wanting to learn the lake and how to walleye fish to go with Ed. We had a great time, learned a lot, laughed a lot and ended with 6 keeper walleye and 4 shorts. The majority of our fish came bottom bouncing with crawler harnesses.  By the end of the trip fishing with Ed was like fishing with a fishing buddy more than a guide. On Wednesday we started out using the new bottom bouncing technique Ed taught us and we caught 1 keeper walleye and three shorts. We also lost a couple including another definite keeper. The smallmouth, largemouth and drum kept us busy as well. By 11:30 it was hotter than blue blazes without a hint of wind. We decided if we trolled we'd at least have some wind moving. We went back to try where we caught the crappie on Monday in the first third of the cove and struck out. On a whim we went further in and found fish in the back third. We hit the walleye nursery and caught another 10 shorts. We managed another keeper walleye and four real nice crappie including one over 13 and another over 14 inches! We even managed 4 big bluegill that went in the livewell. Once again the smallmouth, largemouth, channel cat and drum kept us busy! Even had a first trolling by catching about a 3 pound flathead. Pulled off the water about 5:30 after 9 hours of fishing tired and hot. We pan-fried the blue gill and and a couple of the crappie in butter with a little Old Bay for dinner and they were awesome. We only fished a half day on Thursday before needing to drive back. We bottom bounced the whole time and caught all the usual culprits (we were especially hard on the drum!) along with five short walleye. It's amazing how you keep being hopeful that it's a nice walleye when the drum hit! The walleye all came in 14-18 feet on secondary points. And by the way for us it seemed a lure, whether a Bandit or a Flicker shad, had to have chrome on it to get bit consistently when we were trolling. I can't wait to get back down and hit my favorite lake again later this year. I'm envious of all you who live close!

I use the TRDs mainly because my daughter bought me 2 pkgs. of every color BPS had.  They had 22 colors.

the fish didn’t care.  My neighbor and I fished out of Stockton State Park today.  There were very few rigs on the lot, very few boats on the lake and no bow riders or jet skis.  We caught fish most places that we stopped.  Only Ned produced.  We caught 41 bass 1 eye and one slimy channel cat.  3 keepers were smalljaws, 1 was a spot and 6 were largemouth.  The best largemouth was a 4# on my boca grip.  They all came from skinny water.  Many TRD colors produced but hot snakes was best.

Up here to help my son move from Great Falls to Kalispell so I've taken the opportunity to do some serious fishing in Belt Creek.  Weather has been gorgeous.  Been using pheasant tails, copper john's, etc. and doing pretty good.  Water is running pretty hard with the snow melt but it's still fishable.

Yup.  Pretty much what @basspastor said.   We never really got bit on main lake despite throwing the arsenal at them. Most every fish came back in one of the coves. My settled on green pumpkin Ned as pretty much my only bait from Saturday afternoon through Sunday. Most fish caught between about 8 to 15 ft deep. Probably equal parts smallmouth and large mouth, maybe 20 total.  On Sunday got a couple walleye on the ned as well and "gramps" also got some walleye on jig and crawler.  Water temps pretty much around 61-62 range.  All in all a fun trip squeezed in between the rain.

Drove down from Kansas City with @MO Huzgr and some family from Nebraska (including my 88 yr old grandfather!) to fish this weekend.
Came prepared to run the bluff end deal after reading several reports of finding post spawn fish there. Found a few fish but bass were all short and just one "line-burner" walleye. Saturday morning was a struggle while the front moved in. We continued to run mostly main type of stuff, mostly points and adjacent bluff ends. Had a few bites but they seemed to be short striking. I believe that @MO Huzgr had some more success that morning.

Regrouped for lunch and dodged a rain shower. Decided to begin the afternoon by starting at the back of creek arms near spawning cover. Caught a few keeper bass right away and the fishing only got better as we moved into the middle of the creek arm by 45 degree rock banks. Anecdotally it seemed like the most bites were produced in areas with sparse buck brush, as opposed to 100% brush shorelines. Kept the boat in 18ish FOW and was able to get bit casting at a 45 degree angle in front of the boat toward the shore. Quickly found that our better fish were coming from casting into 15ish FOW straight in front of the boat. Ended up catching some decent fish with good numbers (for us) Saturday afternoon. All fish came from a PB&J Ned other than a couple Whopper Plopper fish at dusk on Friday evening. Didn't catch anything really big but caught a few that were right around 3#.
I had to leave Saturday evening around 6p but I know that @MO Huzgr had continued success Saturday evening and Sunday morning. If we're lucky he'll update with any additional insights.

What a strange year.  63 to 65 water temperatures in mid May.  If the forecast comes true the lake is going to rise a lot.
I'm up here in Montana and the weather has been perfect.  Snow still on the mountains but in Great Falls it's been in the 60's and 70's.  Been doing some trout fishing and it's been fun.

My neighbor and I went back to Stockton at mid day yesterday.  We fished the same places that we fished last time.  There were fish in the area but not as many and not as big.  We fished from 1-6 pm.  We caught 26 bass with 4 keepers and 1 nice eye.  The places where we caught 45 last trip only produced 20.  We fished 2 other areas and got 3 from each one.  Only only one smallmouth appeared to still have eggs everything else looked spawned out.  The surface temps showed 63-65°.

We didn’t use anything but Ned.  The mud minnow and hot snakes were very effective.
