Members jmerriman Posted March 18, 2008 Members Posted March 18, 2008 Go to www.reedscabins.com and check out the pictures of water almost over the bridge. We were on our way to the park about 9:00, it had rained all night, and went to check out. Kelly told us the water had just gotten over the bridge and while we were there had started to reach the the road coming in. So of course we had to go look. Although the big "dough bait" holes were empty there were people fishing at the C&R outlet. The water was unreal!
hfdhoosier Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 WOW!!! Im headed there this Sun to stay for a week, hope it goes down by then. Dennis Eat, Fish, Sleep,....Repeat Member: ozarkflyfishers http://www.ozarkflyfishers.org/

Snow Fly Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 hfd: I bet you will have plenty of water flow, hope everything works out for you! Nothing worse than he a trip planned for a long time fall apart at the last minute. "God gave fishermen expectancy, so they would never tire of throwing out a line"
hfdhoosier Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 There's about 10 of us going to Montauk for the week so even if the river is flooded, we'll still have fun. Sometime during the week I hope the river will be fishable. 4 of us are staying at Eagles Park, I contacted the owners by e-mail and they said this is the worst they have seen in the 7 years they have ran the campground. they said the field to the east of them and the cabin across the road by tan vat is all flooded. They said it will probably be back down by the weekend. Keep praying, might have to cancel the trip to build my ARK.haha Dennis Eat, Fish, Sleep,....Repeat Member: ozarkflyfishers http://www.ozarkflyfishers.org/
flyfshn Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 HFD, I think I would fish down stream OUTSIDE the park!! Will be many fish washed out with that much water movement! Fish On! hfdhoosier Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Flyfshn: If you can get a day off, come fish it with me. As long as its wadable, you bet I'll be fishing outside the park. Two of the guys going with me have never flyfished and Im giving them a crash course, so with them we'll probably fish in the park. They will be there Mon evening thru Wed.. Mon morning I plan on fishing Tan Vat to the park if water levels allow. Dennis Eat, Fish, Sleep,....Repeat Member: ozarkflyfishers http://www.ozarkflyfishers.org/
Gene K Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Anyone know what level that will flood out the lodge and hactheries? The USGS has the crest at about 9.5 ft at 2pm on tue the 18th Ditto, what level will flood the hatcheries? The level is 9.62 right now, still raining and looks like it won't stop for a while. Just drove from Springfield to StL, and the rivers were a sight. All sorts of road closures on the MODOT page, and the Fox 2 virtual rain gauge shows that one of the hardest hit areas is around Salem, currently near 7 inches of rain having fell. Guess the upper Current gets stocked with Bows this year... Edit: Gauge now at 9.84 just a few minutes later.
Members craigk Posted March 19, 2008 Members Posted March 19, 2008 If i remember right isn't there a flood gage next to the road as one would drive by near the mill, any one know what it go's up to?
TroutFearMe Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 I was just down there on monday and the river was a little higher then what I was used to seeing and I kept saying if the get anymore rain there gonna be some big problems but if I remember right that gauge goes upto like 3 or 4 feet but I can be wrong .
