Wayne SW/MO Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 How does one access the river below Zinc Dam. I assume the dam is at the refinery? What precautions should one take in wading? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Okieflyfisher53 Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Wayne, There is a parking lot at 31st Street and Riverside Drive. Park there and walk across to the river (there is a traffic light and crosswalk). There is a boat ramp you can walk down to access the river. If there is no generation you will not have any problems wading. When the water is going to come up they blow a siren and there are flashing lights up on the pedestrian bridge. Steve
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 Thanks Steve, the wife is doing 13 weeks at St John, so I'll be making several trips over. I'll probably concentrate on weekdays. Any advice would be appreciated. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
jay bird Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 The wading from the power company up to the dam is a little slick so be careful, below the power building is easier wading. I had some friends that went and stayed a little to long after the horn went off and had a little hard time getting back to the boat ramp. When that horn goes off my advice is to end the fishing trip and play it safe.
