Thought about taking a spring time trip down on the NFOW. Planed on going Sat throu Tues for a little brown fishing. With the rain coming in we left early on Fri. morning and arrived about 8 am. I haven't been down to the river in about 4 years but its a good bet I'll be back before the end of this year. Except for my wife, there was almost no one else on the river fishing, had the place to ourselves. Put a boat in on Sat morning at Kelly's and found one guy kicking the bottom into a net to find some big crawfish and a couple of large stoneflys, and that was about it. I don't think we saw anyone else on the river till we got down to Patrick bridge. As far as the little brown fishing, there was nothing little about it. That river holds more large fish than any other I have fished in years. We wound up staying untill wed. morning when we determined we better leave before we stay forever.

The water was running high and it was washing alot of grass out so the fishing was a-bit of a challange. We caught alot of smaller fish, about 12in long, but at the falls I managed to hook into one that must have been aleast 6 pounds. I have marked my rod with nail polish at 15 and 18 in. and this fish was way over the marks. Trying to release him I had my thumb in his mouth and he bit me back, putting a big gash right in the middle of it. Still hurts. Once we got past Blair we were able to hook up in almost every riffle. By the end of the the trip We had cought (and released) 1 over 6 lb. ,3 around 18-19 in. and a bunch that were smaller but still alot of fun. Oh and if anyone finds my anchor just past Blair, I like it back, blue, short rope, cut clean with a knife (this was alittle scary)

Miron and the kids wre all sitting there at the deck when we pulled the boat up and started fishing. when I hooked up they all stood up and watched. The kids even came down and started messing around at the bank. The brown is just under the rocks hiding about 15 ft. down stream from the falls. Good luck
