Flippin Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Went out of Indian Point first thing this a.m. and went toward the dam. To quote another poster "nothing here move along" I only caught one 3lbs SM. I threw topwater, jigs, cranks and spinnerbaits from 2-25' fow. I stayed till around 2:00 after the wind had blowing me away. Days like this sure are humbling.
Chris King Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Went out of Indian Point first thing this a.m. and went toward the dam. To quote another poster "nothing here move along" I only caught one 3lbs SM. I threw topwater, jigs, cranks and spinnerbaits from 2-25' fow. I stayed till around 2:00 after the wind had blowing me to out. Days like this sure are humbling. I went out about 4:30PM and headed toward the points down by the state park. I fished the wind blown bluffs with a crankbait (shad Wiggle Wart) and a grub (Kinami Shad 1/2 oz). Couldn't get anything on the wart but caught five with two 15" keepers on the grub before 7PM. I cast to the edge of the bank/bluff, gave it a 5 count and brought it back to the boat. Had a keeper Kentucky and a keeper smallmouth. Also caught a hump-back deformed smallmouth too, never seen that before. Shooting to be out at daylight in the morning...looking for topwater and grub fish.
Chris King Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Shooting to be out at daylight in the morning...looking for topwater and grub fish. Went out from 7-9AM and got six, four smallies and two largemouth. Had three of the smallmouth in the 14-15" range. All on the same grub, all 10' off the bank on the same bluff walls from 1-5' deep.
Flippin Posted October 3, 2010 Author Posted October 3, 2010 Chris, Sounds like you a better day than me. I did not fish the bluff or fish a grub. I was going to fish some bluff before the wind blew me away. Should have started there but I enjoyed being out on the water and challenge of it all. I think the fish out did me.
