Guest csfishinfool Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 We put in at Ceder Ridge around 7:30 and ran up to the Highpoint area. The water temp. was 51. We caught several short fish on flat transition banks on a small square bill crankbait. From there we motored on up the river to find it packed with boats. We then decided to head back down lake to the turkey creek area. The water in here was 53 degrees. The fish were more active and posting up on shallow rock. You couldn't put the bait any more shallow. Had three keepers there with one over 3.5. The water color was a bit dingy but you had at least 2 feet visibility. All of those fish came on the crankbait as well. These fish were not missing this bait, they had the whole thing in there mouth, fun stuff. After we had our share of catching them we motored up to Maze creek to find the water was 49 degrees. That was a bummer, not a bite one. We went all the way back until you could see the bridge, the water got murky and the temp skyrocketed. In about a 100 yards of idling it went from 49-53 degrees. And the bite was back on. This time i used a jig,and caught five and had one keeper. The pattern was shallow flat rock. The sun heated those rocks and the fish went right to them. It was crazy how predictable these fish were. We would go 20 minutes without a bite, see some small rocks on the flat and wham there they were. In total we had around 35 or 40 fish with four keepers. It was a really fun day to be out. Thanks to guy at the ramp who gave my truck a jump, after i left the lights on all day
