Another good day on the Elk. Hit the river with a good friend of mine and got there around 7:00 in the morning. I wasn't sure how the river would fish being that it was cooler and the water had been going back down. It didn't disappoint. It did at first for the first hour I don't think either one of us landed a fish. Started slow, but ended in a bang! After that we started catching dink after dink after dink. We would find a hole and they would be stacked up, but nothing big. Saw some busting shad in the shallows so I tried the fluke, but again I was denied. We switched many times until we went with some grubs in watermelon color. Bitsy Tubes is what I was using and I think my friend had on a fat albert. Anyways this went on for sometime with dinks until we got into some deeper water that was moving slower. Then the bigger fish came out. We lost a couple of nice ones, but I ended up with the biggest of the day. A fat 17" largemouth. Biggest smallie of the day probably only went 14". We were off the water by 1:00 or so, but I would say we ended up catching over 4 dozen between us all together. Wanted to add that we both hit the trifecta of bass fishing. One brownie, one white, and one black bass.

There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
