Kim Anderson Should Be The Missouri Basketball Coach Next Year

Anderson's a great coach, and he deserves his chance at Ol' Mizzou before his career is over. Whenever the next coaching search gets started (next offseason?) I'll be pulling hard for him.

Haith is a better choice if we are okay with winning somewhere between 17-22 games on an annual basis, and probably making the tournament about half the time. Between Miami and Mizzou, that's about what his resume says he is.

Here's a simple fact: despite those who say otherwise, Haith is not, and has never been, a bad coach. He is, on almost every level, slightly above average. For Miami, that was fantastic. He took a dead program to a whole bunch of postseason appearances (mostly NIT, but one NCAA berth) and had them competitive most games. Add a little bit more talent at a place like Mizzou, and that turns into a whole bunch of 20 wins seasons and around .500 records in conference. Sometimes (like last year) that will result in a tournament berth, and sometimes it won't. Is that bad, no. He strikes me as the ultimate "safe" coach, who doesn't have much"flame-out and go 9-22" potential, but also very little potenial to be the guy to break the final four drought.

But Kim Anderson is the kind of hire that says that's not good enough, and we are willing to risk the possibility of failure for the possibility of him building something on a D-1 level like he has at Central MO.

Count me in.

Ditto to the above except for Justin's "She"(LOL) part. Kim would probably be the head coach now if it weren't for the "money boys" not liking his association with Norm!

Congrats to the Mules!

Other than the association with Norm, which has been the kiss of death since Norm retired, the other objection to Anderson is that he is getting a little long in the tooth already. He would have to stay about five years to get his program in high gear and make sure he had a protege waiting in the wings when he retired. At least that would be the ideal situation.

Is Kim within 5 years of Norms retirement age? Seems like it wasn't that long ago we were watchimg him post up down low. I'd take 5 years of Kim over what we have or probably what we get after next year(hopefully after next year).
