Krazo
What type of line & what size do you use blue79? I've got a braided nylon rated at something 300# on my floaters & I can't adjust that by putting excess in the cap,it's just too big. But maybe a 50lb mono would be the way to go. You guys ever use hotdogs? My neighbor swears by em but I've never tried. I typical use liver or perch. I've got a throw net but I've never been able to find shad big enough for the size is like to use. Where do you find big shad on the lake?
blue79
i was using the brown trot line but i put some of the 80lb snagging braid on some jugs that were short of line and it works fine .I have been saving the new 1.5 liter pepsi bottles. They look like they are about the same circumference of the powerade bottles but taller. If i can get 24 in my crate im gonna fill them with foam.Im gonna make a couple of different sets and paint them different colors for whoever is fishing with me.I got a extendable paint roller handle and a hook made from a paint roller to grab the jugs......If i want shad its faster for me to drive down to caplinger mills and throw my net at the corner of the dam. There is always some there. It takes to long to go look for them with the fish finder....I soaked some hotdogs in chicken liver blood once but i cant remember what i caught. My girlfriends dad swears that persimmons work so im gonna try that this year.I also want to try the chunks of ivory soap......Im still looking for some more coke crates. They work perfect for the jugs. wuteversbitin424
When we drift shad at aldrich i just go across from the ramp and there's usually shad there but if not there's always schools on the flats either side of the bridge. my net has too big holes toi but it still catches some just lots of them get stuch in the holes. it takes a little time but i usually fish with 4-6 on a hook so it beats buying them. a net with 1/4 in holes is best if you can find one. mine and most I've seen are 3/8in holes. rainbow
We use hotdogs soaked in anise or wd40. always catch cats that way, river or lake doesn't matter. we used noodle jugs and the drops are set for 5' which seems to work on most flats.
fox_76
wd 40? really? never heard that one before,. does anyone know of a good place for cats around Bolivar Landing? Or a river access around Bolivar that could produce cats? I didn't go to college,... I was too busy learning stuff. --Ted Nugent
