I put in at horse creek to get familiar with it as I've never been above the bridge. It started well with a 3.3 and 3.10 on almost back to back casts off a boat ramp using a square bill. It was a main lake one and they were maybe 1-2' deep. From there we went to fly creek and saw shad at the mouth but none beyond about a 1/3 of the way back which really surprised me. I fished about 2/3 the way back. I was just sight seeing. While in fly creek my trolling motor batteries confirmed my fear that they are in fact dying rapidly so no more than I got started my day was almost over.

From there we ran across to a small pocket and caught a keeper suspended on the deep side of a dock. I love to catch them like that but again it came to see the creek not try to pattern fish.

After that it was up the creek to see what it held. I shut down (per advice of my boss who's fished there before) before the bend that goes left or west. When I stopped it was 5' deep and quickly was 2' deep. I idled the entire width and the deepest was 2.6' deep. Now after that it dropped into a 4-5' deep gut and then back to 2'. I was hoping for a more define channel back there. I saw zero shad activity. By this time it was all my trolling motor could do to pull the boat. I wanted to go all the way to the creek mouth itself just to see it but no way was that gonna happen. So back to the ramp we went to drop off my buddy so I could make a solo run to check the difference raising my jackplate made. I saw 70.3 btw before having to set it down. To rough for speed runs but it bested my 69.5 lol.

So again I was there just to scout primarily for the Oct. 11th GLAFC championship. So I was fishing (what little I got to) where I didn't really expect to get bit. This is the worst report in history but if you take anything away from it, there were shallow fish, not much in the back of anything, shad at the mouth of coves and creeks, don't freakin run beyond the bend(!!!) at least a few fish on docks and maybe a bunch but I didn't look much either, and finally my boat is faster now than ever and is still leaving more on the table. I need to try a 26 pitch tempest which surprises me for a 200.

I planned on reporting on grand more this year but I've only prefished once and that was a partial day due to me feeling like poop. The plan is to prefish until the championship and the two days immediately prior. I'd really like to make a good showing.
