stlfisher Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Every year Joe Buck is accused of bias by both teams. Think about this: we spend all year listening to our home team commentators pumping up our team. When the playoffs come around that doesn't happen and we accuse the commenters of bias. It is especially bad in STL since Buck is a hometown guy and fans think he overcorrects. It is silly and It happens every year. It is in essence an impossible job. There is a reason his twitter handle is "I like every team except for yours." He hears it all the time...from both sides. You may or may not like Joe Buck, but it would be much much worse with another commentator.

Doubtful, but I have mastered the art of tuning them out. It's all just background noise to me. But when I do listen, Joe Buck is one of the worst. And I don't have a team so it really can't be that. Sometimes he just needs to stop and let the sounds of the game take over. Â Â
Lancer09 Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 One thing the Royals need to work on is plate discipline. Bumgarner is tough enough, you don't need to help him out by swinging at pitches that are a foot out of the strike zone. Tough though when Bum was getting strike calls that other pitchers weren't. I know good pitchers are going to get the benefit of the doubt a lot of times but there were some absurd called strikes last night for him.

Usually that is something that Joe is given credit for...letting the sounds of the game take over. I thought Harold Reynolds constant yapping made that almost impossible. Overall I thought the commentary was pretty poor compared to years past. Not sure we see that same team again. It is also one thing to prefer to a different commentator, and another to call them biased. I think Joe can be arrogant at times, but I do not think he is biased toward one team.
Terrierman Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Put it this way: Joe Buck is no Jack Buck. Loved Jack, can't stand Joe.

I don't have a preference on commentators, they are a necessary evil of sporting events. Guess that's why I rarely pay attention to them. He's arrogant but most of them are. Just something about him that I don't like. Never have, never will. I don't care who his daddy was. Â Â

Yeah I hear you on that, makes it tough when balls 3 inches out of the zone are called strikes. One minor annoyance I found with Fox's coverage is they don't show the strike zone box on every pitch. Got used to seeing it all the time during the regular season, takes the guess work out of it for the viewer. Don't need it for obvious strikes or balls, but I like it better than showing the pitch from over the plate (hard to judge height of the pitch) or if they replay a pitch that shows the batter, you can't seen where the ball crosses the plate.

woodman Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 One thing, the Royals made Bumgarner look like he is worth a Billion $.....So there you have it, was the Fix in? I saw this in the last Chiefs season..... BIG MONEY corrupts completely Americas "sacred cow" sports..... http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
