jdmidwest Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I felt something stabbing my shoulder this afternoon while priming my new boat trailer. Looked over my shoulder to see a nice big mosquito swelling up her belly with my juices. Its going to be a long summer. fishinwrench Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Hey, this is Mo. About the time dogwoods begin to bloom we'll probably get 10" of snow over 1/2" of ice. bs1827 and Stacy Jordan 2
Ham Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Lol. Alaska is cold but they have mosquitoes every year. It's a moisture thing not a temp thing. Rare, to have mosquitoes in MH. Not enough flat stuff Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Jerry Rapp Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 last winter was way worse than this winter and the bugs were awful in May and June last year. The old saying of we need a cold winter to kill bugs is false. I think my wife nailed it last spring when the bugs got so bad. She said, "they just had more time in the frozen ground to make more bugs". Mother Nature does it thing, year end, year out. Brian Jones 1
jdmidwest Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 I would love to find their overwinter hiding spot and nuke it. Ice has not been off the ponds long enough for them to hatch and mature into the beast that stabbed me yesterday. She overwintered somewhere. There is just something about the pests that bug us and carry disease that I have always wondered about. My philosophy is everything in life has a purpose and a reason. What are ticks for? At least skeeters feed fish and birds. I have not found any purpose for a tick, none, nada, zilch. vonreed Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 1 reason might be for population control for mother nature. We've just been able to fight it off, but without medicines a lot of people would die from bugs.
Riverwhy Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 An early warm up followed by a late spring cold spell is the best hope for a mild bug season
fishinwrench Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 My philosophy is everything in life has a purpose and a reason. What could our purpose/reason be ?
jdmidwest Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 What could our purpose/reason be ? Sometimes I think just to feed the pests... I think we are here to learn. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
David Unnerstall Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 What could our purpose/reason be ? Food for ticks and mosquitoes.
