Terry Beeson Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Click here... I want to email this guy and give him some moral support... gonefishin Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I support what he is doing. He is right. Gas prices are just ridiculous. I am protesting gas prices by staying home this holiday weekend. Unless something really unexpected comes up I am parking my vehicles tonight and they will not move until Tuesday. We are going to burn some burgers in the back yard instead of going to the lake like we usually do. Not only will the gas stations lose out on any sales to me the state will lose out on any tax revenues generated by my going to the lake. Of course I am just one person and that wont make much difference, I only hope there are a lot more who will do the same thing I am. I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." Benjamin Franklin, 1759
Terry Beeson Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 I may be forced to take one trip to Taneycomo this weekend, otherwise I'll be supporting the beef growers, potato farmers, and alcoholic beverage makers in my back yard. jdmidwest Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Staying at home this weekend too, gonna float local streams and catch a bunch of smallies. F big oil and all the worthless ones that jack gas prices up. The ethanol is a scam, it uses more fossil fuels producing the corn and pollutes more water than a nuclear power plant. It gets worse mileage and you still mix it with gasoline. But, let's waste my tax dollars making it! When it burns, it pollutes like gas and leads to global warming. That will muddy up the stream I am fishing in Alaska this year and ruin the second trip of a lifetime. Tree huggers make it hard for anyone to make a new refinery or to use what we own. Its not the oil prices, we can't (or really won't try) to make more gas to meet demands. Why don't we take off the gloves and try finish off Al Queada in the world and all of the terrorists to stabilize the world again. Make Memorial Day something worth fighting for, remember those who give us freedom. (Note: "Views expressed by this individual are complicated by a stressful week at a job dealing with the public. I need a 3 day weekend.") "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
SilverMallard Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Dayum Right! LOL Vigorous competition mitigates uncontrolled greed in a free market. Our gov't has allowed the industry to consolidate down to 3-4 big refiners. There is no longer anything resembling "vigorous competition." So the greed spirals out of control. It's pretty simple macro-economics. SilverMallard "How little do my countrymen know what precious blessings they are in possession of - and which no other people on Earth enjoy."
