Well, you see, there's this one spot on this one body of water, where they figured something out one day.  😂

That's ME on Gravois Creek. When I come strutting down the hill everyone around here knows that "School is Now In Session".  😎

No I'm talking about somebody trying to show they know fishing but clearly haven't fished much at all.  At a party up the street at Christmas one of the guys mentioned that he sees me towing my boat in and out of the subdivision.  The he goes on about how he prefers the reels that you close the bail on and not those goofy ones like a sideways spool.  🙄   I went and got a beer and him let blather on to the ladies about it.

At least he lives in suburbia and has an excuse.  We have veteran lake dwellers here that don't know a crankbait from a crappie jig, but will still insert themselves into a conversation about fishing.

In the past, I ate anything legal, even drum.

The first time I heard of catch and release, the species discussed was trout. I understand why. Unless the fish has been in the wild long enough to allow the meat to turn orange, it's nasty. Oddly, I don't think that is why TU advocates CR.

I stopped eating bass after the BASS magazine made a big deal of it in the 70's. Besides, I preferred crappie and catfish.

Now, in my maturity, I eat walleye, crappie, wild caught salmon, and a few ocean fish.  Why? Because they taste better than the rest.

I CnR or I would have to buy a couple deep freezers because we wouldn’t be able to eat all that I catch 😆

You're only allowed 12 in your freezer anyway, right?

Bass ain't bad, not much inherent flavor, neednsome seasoning.  I seldom keep them anymore unless fishing for a fish fry at work and having trouble catching anything else.  Almost all bass I catch anymore is a byproduct of walleye or crappie fishing and at that point I am usually just ticked off its a bass.  I couldn't bring myself to fillet a smallie just an ingrained prejudice for me.
