Pond to the East-Tough Summer Time fishing

Club Tournament yesterday out Lead Hill, had 7 bites caught 6 keepers, all on topwaters spook Jr /plopper.  4 limits were caught between 2 clubs w/ 16 boats.  I won one club with 12.5 lbs. Other club winner had 13 lbs.  Wt: 85-86.  Stay hydrated everyone!

That's better than I did the last two times over there.  It's such a target rich environment that I have really struggled and I consider Bull my "home" lake.

3 weeks before the tournament I fished over there and  caught 2 bass all day long!

I quit it back in June. Once water temps get to 80ish, Bull becomes a nocturnal thing for me, and with it high, that’s just not a game I want to play.

I'm not seeing any schooling fish this Summer. Usually I can get on them early and late in the day but nothing yet. This lack of  surface activity is very unusual.

The fish I am catching are singles, never 2 in the same place, and the places they are at, are kinda hard to find, and the type of cover they are in, has been very specific. Definitely a challenge.  Spend a lot of time looking but when I find that spot the heart rate goes up because I know my buzzer is about to get smashed. Making contact with the cover is what makes them strike. You can run a buzzbait all around the spot and they won't touch it, run it into the cover and they crush it. Trick is to get the bite before hanging up snagged 😄  I can horse them out with 50lb braid once hooked up

It's a very predictable jig and big worm lake in the summer for me.  A typical day is 20+ keepers doing that every year.  The problem is that those spots are 50 feet deep right now and any shallower I spend all day long getting hung up with that jig.  I could see a plopper or buzzbait working in isolated spots but man, it's really tough right now and has been for 2 months.
