Danoinark Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I was impressed and amazed at how much work has been done at the dam. If you haven't been in awhile you need to check out what is going on to help make Taneycomo better and to improve our fishery. The brown trout hatchery building is up, the three brown runs are nearly completed with a few of the ladders in place. This is just below outlet three where the creek ran into the lake. There is an iron bridge over one of the runs, so invision in a few months what it will be like to stand on that bridge and watch big browns try to make it up the ladders, through the chutes on their way for a spawn. I can't believe that this will do anything but increase the brown trout population and size in Taneycomo. Other improvements include the near completion of the new restrooms, lights at the pavillion, new fencing along the park area, and plans for a kids only fishing lake. I feel you will be pleased with what you see and I for one certainly appreciate the efforts to make the upper lake a true gem. I think Jeremy took some pictures and maybe he will post them later. Rusty Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 It is looking good. Sorry I didn't make the shindig, we left around four and headed home. Hey Dan, we caught fish on high water too.
Leonard Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Things are looking GREAT at the dam... But what should start to concern people is the erosion at outlet 1... If anyone fishes that area at night.... .........TAKE NOTE... it is getting bad... I was there yesterday.. the bank has about a 5' drop... this has increase over the past week... and is getting worst... http://www.taneycomonights.com
WebFreeman Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I'm curious about the kids pond. Anyone have further details? “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
gonefishin Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I hope they (MDC) does start stocking bigger and better fish. I have heard it rumored that we fishermen are paying for a upgrade that has nothing to do with fishing but rather it has everything to do with selling fish to other states and to the food industry. Wonder if there is any truth to this. I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." WebFreeman Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 That will be nice. I have a hard time finding a good spot. At 2 and 6, it's a challenge.
