Perhaps the prop engine gives him the maneuverability needed to make those tight turns.

I know my jet rig doesn't do tight turns very well.

At any rate it was apparently "cute" enough for him to win the tournament and $50k.

Which tournament was that ?   How much did he lead it by?     

You're not going to win a derby up some shallow creek unless it's late fall.    How cool ya gotta be to have a special boat just for October tournaments ?

Jet PUMP is the proper term.   But who cares.  If someone acts like they don't understand what you mean it's because they are playing word games.  

Just like the term "tunnel hull"......which is redneck speak for "ghetto pontoon".  🤣
