Just from August 1 through this last Sunday I've gone through 60 pounds of sugar.  I have 17 48 ounce feeders out and the last two weeks I have been making over 6 gallons of sugar water every 4-5 days.  These pictures are from a corner feeder on the porch in back.  It looks like WWI dogfights all the time.  Usually they are gone by mid September but with the higher temps I guess they may stick around longer.  And I'll buy more sugar.

I can't figure out how to get my pictures to show up.  They are on Flicker.

@Hawkfarm you and @BilletHead have a similar situation with the hummers. We never had enough in a year to go through a 5 lb bag of sugar let alone how much you guys go through. We would have loved to have more, but living in the burbs has some drawbacks. Very cool to see so many feeding together.

Yep blessed here with the tiny birds. 50 pounds plus of sugar here too. Quit keeping track of it. They are beginning to slow down here some and by the first of October pretty much gone. Had eight feeders out at  one time this season and was going through one to two gallons of surly a day. Crazy.

Thanks.  That’s an amazing pic.  We only have 4 and they never drink together.  They just chase each other around the back yard.

That's like us.  We had 2 at the feeder once...ever since then, its been just one, and she chases away 2-3 others when the fly by.

We had a feeder in the front and another in the back. In good years we may have 4 or 5 hitting those two feeders. Usually would have one front yard and one back yard male chasing everyone away from the feeders.

If you ever want to lose your love for hummingbirds, just make it a daily routine to run your outboard on a garden hose while you try to work on it.

Something about that either puts them into attack mode, or makes them hungry....and they think your eyeballs are delicious flowers.

IMO there is nothing cute or desirable about #@!?*"#@ HUMMINGBIRDS ! 😠

Only because you have red bloodshot eyes from staying up so late at night :) . They like Red and think those fine veins in the whites of your eyes are flower petals.  watch out they will poke a hole in your eyes and suck your brains out!
